Anyone with mediocre stats get an interview yet?

a GPA that is between 3.0-3.3. But im wondering that anyone with this kind of a GPA has gotten an interview/ or accaptance by ofsetting the GPA with EC's or a good DAT score?

Definitely check out the link that Albino posted. And this one could help (it's for GPAs lower than 3.0 though): http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=362708&page=23

There won't be any news about acceptances until at least December 1st, so you'll have to look at last years stats on Pre-Dents (Albino's link) if you're curious about that.
 
Does a 3.24 science gpa count? If so, then yes, it is very possible to off-set low sciGPA with high DAT and other strong points in your application.

yah that counts. what do you consider a 'high' enough DAT score that could offset that kinda of sGPA??

By the way, I'm surprised that you consider 3.0-3.3 a "mediocre" range. Try "pitiful."

And my AA score is 18.
And I'm asian.
From my mediocre stats, one can deduct that numbers count to only a certain degree. 🙂 The rest of your app is just as important.

yes I have a mediocre sub 3 gpa but i got an interview last yr and have 2 this year. Im asian as well but there are thankfully some schools that like to look at the complete application rather than just numbers.

unfortunately if they had to choose between two good interviewees to accept, theyll look at the numbers to decide who they want. (my situation last yr :/)

ohhh ok. thanks for the input, im def gna try and raise my GPA this year so i can avoid that. ps, did you get any interviews this year?

Of course 🙂 Mail-out date was 6/27. Already had my interviews at MWU-AZ, ASDOH, LECOM
 
I have gotten interviews! I have a 3.2 overall gpa, and a 2.8 science gpa. So YES it is possible!! I applied to three dental schools, and got an interview to all three. Keep hope ALIVE! 🙂

Imback I don't understand why you have to be so rude to people. People get into schools with a wide ranges of GPA and DAT scores, no need to judge and call scores "pitiful". Didn't your mom every tell you, "if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all?" 🙂

AND... OP you have a fine shot don't worry about what others are telling you. Keep working hard and eventually you will be accepted into school. If you're passionate about getting into school and becoming a dentist then don't quit and you will get into school and become a dentist!

With your 3.37 cGPA and 3.0 sGPA, I'm sure you would need a lot of encouragement from others.

🙂 You're so clever! And you do your research! But if you would have read further you would have known that I calculated my AADSAS GPA in relation to my school and it got bumped up to a 3.52 cGPA and 3.33 sGPA! Pretty cool huh?? Aren't you happy for me?? hahaha

I just got an interview at Howard with a 3.59 cumulative, 3.3 science, and 17 DAT. Keep your head up!! Its possible.
 
Guys I really dont know how you got interviews with low gpas and DATs. But I have a 3.8 and a 19AA, without a single interviews yet. ECs and LORs are good too.

Hard to know why, but there are lots of factors considered in an application. Without even knowing anything else about your application, when did you have it COMPLETE, how many schools did you apply to, and besides instate, did you apply to OOS friendly?

And thank god imback was finally banned. How rude.

But to the OP- Don't be discouraged if your stats are on the lower side. Like I said, I have a "lower" science gpa, but I have 4 interviews...don't give up!!!

3.15 sGPA, 3.3 oGPA. AA = 20. I do have a lot of shadowing and research experience though. Submitted end of September/early Oct and got 3 interviews so far, 2 pre-December.

Thanks! The email came on 10/31. My interview is 12/13. 😀 It doesn't seem like they are sending out huge batches of interview invites so keep your chin up, there are still lots of interviews to be had!
 
I am writing this to give hope to everyone. I have a 2.98 oGPA and 2.87 sGPA, and I got 17 in my DAT, and at least I had 1 interview. I hope everyone still keeps the hopes up. I am an URM though.
