Hi, is anyone working on UCSD's supplemental? If so, how long is your personal statement? I e-mailed an academic advsior and he said there is no limit. What's the ideal length of an essay?

hey, i finished it last week~ my supp essay is probably 8 paragraphs if i remember correctly...its almost twice my ps? lol...and all the other sections you fill out are unlimited space as well...those i took about 4000 char? maybe more. goodluck!

I like that it's unlimited characters! Less pressure to cram in everything you want to say.

sorry to infiltrate OP's post but since it's related to UCSD...I'm also wondering how you guys answered the lists of organization part? it's unlimited too...how did you guys answered the intellectual part??--I'm carefully thinking what to say since they might use this source for interview...

I kinda restated some of my pharmcas ps for UCSD supp but in a probably more sincere way and covered parts I didn't cover in pharmcas essay...

Finished mine around mid-august. I can't remember exactly, but mine was LONG. I'm almost worried I went overboard, but the question WAS fairly open-ended and intensive (based on my interpretation).

for the other sections, it says, "[FONT=Arial, Arial, Helvetica]Please use no more than the space provided, but do not feel compelled to entirely fill each box."

but it scrolls down...i just used the amount that was in the box w/o scrolling down...
.

For the love of everything that is holy, please be concise.

Interviewers only get about 10 minutes to read through all the supplemental essays for each cadidate before interviewing the candidate (yes it is an open file interview). It doesn't help your cause if you ramble on forever. Also, that optional section for "other info", don't feel compelled to fill it out just because the space is there to fill up.

Good luck!

lol yea i called USCD to ask about that... how long, the scroll bar thing... the person on the phone seemed a little confused, like "why would you create a scroll bar? why did you make a scroll bar appear?" but uh basically, the idea is to be concise, that's what they like. they don't care if you do list format, bullet point, paragraph, but just get your point across clearly.
