Hi all, I am planning to apply to Howard University because I have already fulfilled their requirements. However, I have never heard about Howard university and would like to hear more. I looked at their website, and it looks crappy - probably the worst pharmacy school website I have ever seen. I contacted their admissions office to ask a few questions about admissions. After waiting for about a month with almost giving up, I finally got a response. And the response is a list of stuff copied from their website with my question unanswered. After three days, I got another email about my question, and they said they have no answer to that! I know I shouldn't judge a school based on the attitude of the staff of the admissions office, but the feeling that they are giving me is that they don't care about students at all. I asked the same question to the other 13 schools that I will potentially be applying to and they replied me back fast with the question answered! I used to like Howard a lot because it is located in a super big city. But now my impression on it has significantly faded. For those who go to Howard or have gone to that school from interview or whatsoever, how is the school and faculty there like? Also, how are the facilities provided? I truly apologize if I offended anyone at this point, but I am honestly expressing my feeling and would like anyone to give me some feedback on this school

... I know I shouldn't judge a school based on the attitude of the staff of the admissions office, but....

I disagree! The members of the admissions staff are usually the first individuals that a potential applicant comes into contact with. It is not unreasonable to expect for the admissions staff to be friendly and efficient.

We have an intern at the pharmacy I work at. I asked her where she goes, and she responded in a single, simple sentence: "I go to Howard don't ever go there."

lol, she said the administration blows. nobody cares, everything is unorganized.

I also know someone that applied there (pre-pharmcas era), and they lost her entire application.

My other friend went there for undergrad, but transferred out because she said that they couldn't guarantee that she would graduate sometime this millennium lol....her words.

hey, you asked for insight...then again, this is hearsay.

well this may not really help, but I have a friend in their dental program. She says the staff is very friendly and welcoming and they try their best to make you feel at home. I remember when she was applying they were a bit slow and unorganized, but once you're in they seem to be very professional.

Lots of complains abt howard. Personally, I think they should be professional irrespective of if u r a student or applicant. It's all abt respect which I think everyone deserves. If someone should take their effort, time and money to apply, I think they should be treated with cutesy which means being professional. My brother is a P4 in their pharmacy program and he says even though the administration is so unorganized, there has been an improvement in academics due to their probation statues which was taken off earlier this year.

Well to comment on some of the above posts...Howard is a HBCU. Speaking from first hand experience, the staff and administration is ususally filled with people who do not seem to enjoy their job and take out their frustrations on students. I know that my comment is a shady thing to say...but its the truth. I went to an HBCU for 3 years and transferred out becuause of the unorganization and lack of respect. You really have to know how to "get in their face", so to speak, to get answers or responses. My mother warned me about this and I didn't listen. I know so many other people that have had the same problem. I'm not saying that all HBCU's are the same way, I'm speaking from my own personal experience.
