You all need to seriously reconsider attending UNSOM. I'm not going into details, but you may seriously regret attending here, and end up transferring like I did because it was sooo bad... and with UMC in financial trouble, I'd say all bets are off for optional rotations in vegas 4th year if you're hoping to stay there.
Sad but true-- if you want to be a GOOD doctor, go to a school with a curriculum that has changed with the times- you don't want to have to learn everything for step I in 6 weeks at the end of 2nd year. think about it
pm me for details
!!
Hopefully we find something out tomorrow!I don't have the energy to go through this entire thread and look - but have any OOS applicants from this thread gotten an acceptance yet?
The accepted students have been e-mailed as a group as few times and I counted 57 e-mail addresses (I was bored 😳 ) Unless something has changed, our entering class is supposed to be 62 students. Maybe there are five spots left (for OOS students? I don't know).
Just a thought.
BTW - this is "orima". I wanted to try to stay semi-anonymous, but I've decided it doesn't bother me anymore.
Side note-Orima, have you gotten your financial aid package yet?
You can call me oxeye now. 🙂 No financial aid package yet. I e-mailed Renee a couple weeks ago when I got a postcard in the mail saying that I wouldn't get aid because I'm "not admitted to a graduate program". She said that was a mistake. She said they were going to start packaging later that week so hopefully we'll get something soon.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who counted the e-mail addresses! 😉

But how do you know its supposed to be 62 exactly? Are they not flexible in the slightest? couldn't it end up being just 57, or 66 or something, by chance? (I'm grasping, I know)

Taking a year off will not be such a bad thing....Just got my letter.... waitlisted.😡 WTF took so long. My letter was postmarked on April 16 for those wondering. Anyway I am going to start preparing my applications for next year which is not going to include UNSOM because I just can not deal with this wait again!! To all those who are still waiting... the best of luck, I'm rooting for you guys!!!Taking a year off will not be such a bad thing....
well, still nothing. it is weird that it would take so long considering it only has to go from Reno to Boise. this sucks, now i have to wait till monday. or...maybe i should just drive down to reno and see what the deal is 😉
I am so frickin' sick of waiting!Hey guys, I have a question concerning UNSOM's preference to in-state residents. I've lived in Nevada pretty much all my life except for my attendance at ASU as an Arizona resident. I still plan to settle in Las Vegas after all my schooling. Would it still hurt my chances applying as out-of-state or should I wait to regain my Nevada residency?
I just got a call Tuesday that I have been accepted into UNSOM off the waitlist. I am so excited, and I still can't believe that it really happened. Is anyone else as elated as me to be attending UNSOM in the Fall.

Just curious if anyone has an opinion on this... what are the chances at UNSOM with MCAT of 33 (12 V, 11P, 10B, Writ R) and Biomedical engineering from USC (Los Angeles) with mixed overall GPA (Last 3 yrs, 3.4; Overall 3.2; Freshman yr, 2.6)
and BCPM GPA (Last 3 yrs, 3.3, Overall 3.1, Freshman 2.2)
You don't have to talk about your scores, just how competitive you think this person would be. Nevada resident, by the way.
