AOA Status?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
some schools are only p/f first year. even if it's p/f both years, you still have clinical grades plus board scores, and maybe extracurricular accomplishments as well.

Those schools that are P/F do keep track of your percentage on tests as well. Every school has different AOA criteria. Some use almost exclusively academics and usually grades in clerkship plus your USMLE score have more weight then the first two years. Other schools put a lot of weight on extracurricular activities, community service and other criteria.

Not all Pass/Fail schools keep hidden rankings during the pass/fail year(s). Talk to someone at your school who knows the policy. You have a right to know this information, so don't be worried about asking them.

i agree w/entei. our *dean of students* has told us on a few occasions that they do NOT keep hidden track of test percentages. class rank is not assigned until 2nd year and beyond.

How do they know what your extracurricular activities are? Must it be school sponsored activities to count? What if you volunteer in places outside the hospital that the school doesn't know about?
