Is it just me or do other people find plants really boring and not want to read the chapters about them. Considering that they do not make a large portion of the book, do you guys also not care about the plant section? Is it bad for me to read this information? hahahah

I have just been wondering because I haven't popped open my book once this section.

From class lecture I do remember and can determine a plants, terminal bud, lateral (axillary bud), nodes, inter nodes, age rings, lenticels, xylem, phloem, vascular cambium, merristimatic regions, tap roots, fibrous roots, dicots, monocots, determine age of plant cells, cell walls.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking here, but I'll try to answer best I can. In college, like in high school, you will have to take a lot of classes that you don't find interesting, and that you feel are not relevant to your life plans. Unfortunately, if you want to get into medical school, you will not only have to study these subjects, you'll have to do well in them. Start practicing now by learning about plants.

Oh, I just realized that I made a typo. I guess the advice is helpful. I never said I didn't learn about plants, but just haven't read the book. I was questioning and wondering whether any other people are not reading their biology books when they are on the plant section which to me is not as interesting.

During this one week break, I guess I will be reading the biology book!

The reason people in bio class don't care as much about plants is because the majority are pre-med, not wannabe botanists. I think the professor of one of my bio classes knew that because at the beginning she said "I know you all don't care about plants, but I'm going to make you LOVE plants!" and proceeded to dedicate a ton of class time to botany.

Ah, yes, I see what your saying. Some people don't really read there biology books at all, and study primarily from lecture notes and just use their texts as references. Most people who are serious about med school won't change their study habits just because the material is't that interesting to them.:luck:

I'm taking Marine Bio right now and don't even know how that's relevant to internal medicine  but I'm sacrificing, soaking it up and doing the reading like a man. 😎

My bio prof did the exact opposite. She said "I know you all don't care about plants, so I'm not going to bother teaching about them." We learned like two things about plants.

Oh man I just had to bump this thread. I remember three weeks ago when I was complaining and wasn't very interested in plants, but now that the unit is over and we have a test Wednesday, plants have become quite interesting. I have to say I have learned more about plants and got lots of practical knowledge out of it than I would have ever expected.

Go plants! yee 😎😍
