Hey everyone,

How do most schools deal with AP credit and factoring it into your pre req. GPA? For instance, if I got a 4 on the AP biology exam, and was therefore able to place out of 1 semester of Introductory Biology at my university, does this get calculated in as a 4.0?

Thank you

When I contacted one school, they said that a 4 counted as a B, and 5 as an A. Each school may be different though, so definitely ask the school.

Many schools don't take AP credit for biology courses! Research each school you're interested in to see if they take AP credit! I took AP bio in high school and in college it's much more in depth. I was able to use AP credit for 2 English classes, Calculus, Statistics, and Government.

Some of my schools did not calculate AP scores into my GPA, so definitely call specific schools!

Agree with all the other responses. Some schools accept any AP credit, some may accept it but not for pre-reqs, some many only accept it for certain classes, some may only accept it if you got above a certain score, and some don't accept AP credit at all. You will have to find out the specifics at each school you plan to apply to.
