Hello Everyone!

I hope I'm not asking a really lame and overused questions, but I searched and didnt see anything about this relating to dentistry.

So, if I get rejected from every school I applied to, would it be possible to submit an appeal to one or a couple of them to maybe re-review my app later in the process? I may have updated post-bacc grades or a new DAT score . . .

If it is a possibility, how do I go about it? Has anyone done it?

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks guys!!!

Basically, No. A rejection is a rejection... if you are waitlisted, your application will be re-reviewed if positions become available.

This isn't undergrad. There are only so many seats in a dental school class. You can't just "add" another student.

jb!🙂

I doubt you can appeal not getting in. I'm sure everyone who was rejected would be appealing if that was the case, and that probably wouldn't fly with the schools.

if you have new scores you can send through aadsas i think if not just contact the schools that you applied to

Me neither.
It's absurd to go this route. If they don't want you why force yourself on them?
Good way to burn bridges. It might catch up to the individual if they have to reapply.

Thread merged, duplicate post removed.

In terms of an answer, I agree that you'd burn more bridges than you'd want to if you go that route.

Unfortunately not...unless you enclosed a six-figure check with your appeal letter...

Your chances of successfully appealing a rejection are about as good as appealing for a change of your undergraduate grades.

I would make sure you called the school and personally told them of the change. That way they at least recognize your name when they look at it.

My brother appealed a rejection to undergrad, and was accepted. I doubt it would work for a professional program though, because of the fact that seats are limited, and due to the whole process.

The process is so long, and dragged out, so that the schools ensure that they have a full class by the time its done. An appeal would not help, since they have plenty of qualified candidates to choose from.

if you're going to do it, i recommend doing it sooner rather than later. Your chances would definitely be better if you had gotten an interview first.

I would call the school and ask if they have a specific procedure and follow that. More than likely, it would be to draft a letter stating that you wish to ask for a re-review of your file, and briefly list some reasons why you think you should be accepted.

As I mentioned, I was rejected after an interview, and about 3 months later I appealed it and ended up on the waiting list. if I had done it sooner, I might be in d-school right now. who knows. When they look at a file by itself and not as part of the stack, things look a bit different/better sometimes.
