What’s the protocol on luggage? Will sites be annoyed if I ask to put my luggage somewhere? It seems useless to pay for an extra day at a hotel but also don’t want to hurt my chances with such a trivial matter. Also, if they do allow this, should we email them and ask in advanced or ask on the day of?

Thank you for the info! I’m waiting as well. Hoping for a December date if I do get invited! Best of luck to you, fingers crossed for both of us 🙂

Likewise! I think I’ll shoot for the 12/17 date. Hoping we both hear good news soon!!

I've volunteered at my university's counseling center's internship interview day the past few years and many of the applicants interviewing have brought their luggage (usually around half of the people there have a suitcase with them). I think it wouldn't hurt to email when you get your schedule/itinerary and ask if it's okay to bring your luggage, but it seems to me that it's quite common for people to have it with them.

I’ve been told that many sites are fine with, and accustomed to, applicants bringing luggage to the interview. They designate an office or something where it will be kept until you leave. As for your final question, I’m unsure and also curious about how to approach that.

Based on my experience last year, all sites were very accomodating about having a space for interviewees to keep their luggage. And there were always other applicants who had their luggage with them as well. Sites are usually aware that people are flying in and out for interviews and often have their luggage with them. If you’re concerned, I would email them prior to the interview and just make sure.

I need to stop paying attention to the invites that are for other tracks within the same site. While they may sometimes be generalized and all-inclusive, I think they’re causing unnecessary stress.

Very true! Many of my invites were received after other tracks had already been invited 🙂

Anyone happen to hear from the Ann Arbor VA about the neuro track? It's one of my top choices so I'm really hoping to hear back from them soon!

Hi there, I did hear from the Neuro track early this morning. Although plenty of sites that didn't have second wave interview invitations last year are sending them out this year so you never know....

Rejection from University of Washington

That makes 4 in a row 🙁 practicing acceptance is hard when there are so many more Nos than Yeses! ughhhh might flirt with a little emotional avoidance (in the form of pecan pie) tomorrow

I’ve gotten 5 rejections so far and only 1 interview. You’ll be fine.

Nice work! Does it seem that Ped Neuro is encompassed or that each track will send its own email?

Most hotels will keep your luggage at the bell desk for you but you'd just have to go back and get it.

It is hard to say. It looks like Peds Neuro went out earlier last week based on the description, but plenty of schools that do not usually have second waves are so .....

The adult neuropsychology invites have gone out.

Good to know that there is hope when invites were sent out forever ago!

I applied there and to that track and have not heard anything!

Has anyone heard from UCLA who applied to the General Child track?

Some friends of mine who have interned at MUSC have told me many times that they send their invites out over a very long period of time. Apparently they spread out the assignments for who reviews applications and that is who does the notifications, which leads to a lot of variability. So no need to worry yet, I'm sure you all have good news on the way!

If a site asks if you have any preference for morning or afternoon can you say no preference or should you just pick one?

Saying no preference helps us schedule it around people with more restrictions. So, you can definitely do that, makes it easier for us.

Hey WisNeuro, you have been so helpful in providing information thus far! I was wondering what your knowledge is surrounding the sites that send out rejections and invites on the same day (usually via mass email) and yet there are a group of applicants who don't receive either on the initial day they are sent out. Are waiting lists a thing?

This varies quite a bit. For sites with specific tracks, they often do these somewhat independently of each other, so they may have staggered invites and rejections. For other sites, they may send out waves of invites, and adjust subsequent waves depending on applicants accepting or rejecting invites. Waiting lists are a thing, but they are the exception rather than the rule.

Thank you WisNeuro, and attitudelikeasunrise for posing the question. I have been wondering the same, as there are three sites that seem to have sent invites specific to my track (based on reports) but I have not received a rejection. So either these are each exceptions, or there is some sort of wave process. I'd like to assume that simply waiting to send rejections is not one of the possibilities. Though I also did not consider it likely that people would reject interview invitations so early on.

Last year someone got an interview invitation ON thanksgiving. No days are sacred

Ha yep, there are two sites who apparently notified on Thanksgiving last year, according to the thread (including Geisinger and Indiana U SOM). It doesn’t seem impossible but who knows. My guess is that DOTs fit in this extra work whenever they can.

Or when sites give you only 1 interview date vs. others who previously had more than 1 to choose from...
