I responded with just one date that I was available, and it was confirmed just like an hour later! I hope it works out for you. I'll be there on Jan 3rd.

(In honor of last year) If & How you're staying sane: I actually received a text message today from my S/O that was comforting. My S/O said, "I know it's different because I'm not the one applying, but I'm feeling at peace with everything. You have done absolutely everything you could do, so now we step back and let God take it from here." I think what resonated with me was the fact that I did work incredibly hard to put my best out there, and now it is just a process of watching it unfold. My best isn't what every site needs or wants, and that's okay too.

Rejection from Bath VA. Waiting on 4 more. Have 8 interviews not sure if I could do anymore anyway. Anyone know of a good place for interview prep questions?

This process is humbling for all of us! I feel as though I am doing pretty well with interviews yet still received one rejection that REALLY hurt to the point where it ruined my whole weekend. It does totally suck to receive rejections! But we got this!

I noticed someone is interviewing at the Judge Baker School. Did you recieve confirmation of your interview date yet? It's been 5 days and I haven't heard back!
 
What type of interview questions have you guys been asked thus far, or what are some of the common questions? I’m prepping for my first interview tomorrow and am SO nervous!

Rejection from Denver Children’s Home. 100 percent ok with this as I don’t think I could afford a flight to Denver anyway. I hope people who are enthusiastic about this site received interviews!
 
I need some input/guidance. I recieved an invite to a program and their date was the exact same as another interview. They offered me another date and I can't do that date either. I really want to interview at this site but I feel uncomfortable asking for yet another date. Any advice on how to phrase my message? I don't want them to think I don't like their site, but I can't make those other dates work.
 
Just discovered an invite from Girard Medical Center in my spam folder! It was sent on Monday and the dates are 1/7,1/8, 1/9, and 1/11.

I wore the bracelet today and thought about how just like Hogwarts students are "sorted" into houses, I'll be sorted into an internship that will provide me the training experience I need! Just like some students are originally surprised or disappointed by their houses, but grow to realize it's the best place for them to learn and grow..that is the attitude I will take for the internship process!

I would say respond ASAP and let them know in the email that you’re extremely interested in their site however your travel/interview schedule still has conflicts and you’re doing your best to resolve it. Ask for any other possible dates. If the site is lower on your list, ask for a phone/tele interview. If the site is higher on your list, see if you can move around your existing interviews. I bet sites have to deal with this all the time so fingers-crossed that they’re flexible. Hope that’s helpful - good luck!

When you say externship, is that the same as internship? I’m so nervous for my first interview tomorrow too! I have no idea what kinds of questions to expect.

It’s like practicum. In NYC it’s a convoluted process almost like a mini version of the match. I ended up in a site that I love but I definitely had some bad interviews!

The main things I have prepared for: talking about myself, a difficult or rewarding case, supervision style/ challenging times with a supervisor, why this site, and just general information about the experiences I’ve had. I’ve also tried to prepare for questions about diversity, self-care, and my strengths and weaknesses as a clinician. The toughest thing for me is always having questions for the site that aren’t dumb and easily answered by the brochure!

Thank you that was really helpful! I get nervous about diversity questions because I don’t want to sound ignorant or say the wrong thing. I’m also not sure what to say for a weakness, I was thinking maybe that I can be a perfectionist? But I don’t want to sound bad either lol

I’m gonna be honest, my weakness is self confidence especially in therapy. I’m gonna talk about how sometimes my tone/ body language might betray how I feel nervous in session, and that I find myself in “my head” sometimes thinking of the correct response! that’s something I’m working on actively through supervision and my current work! Hopefully that’s a good answer. I want to be honest but not TOO honest! Lol

Congrats! You're so lucky! I got a rejection :/ I'm not surprised though because I realized after I already applied they require US citizenship and I'm not a citizen... 🙁
