As we begin hearing back from sites on rejections and invitations, I want to remind each one of you about your intelligence, resilience, competence, and worth as not only a doctoral student, but as a person! This process is completely draining on our mental health as we're also juggling practicums, graduate assistantships, dissertation, and personal obligations. Please do not let rejections alter your belief of yourself. Otherwise, you wouldn't have made it this far if you weren't capable. I hope you are able to take multiple deep breaths and believe that you've done everything you can possibly do up until this point.

Has anyone who applied to Albert Einstien child track heard back? Also, has anyone gotten a rejection from CHOC?

I got this interview as well! Did you by any chance get a 1/3 or 1/13 interview date that you'd be able to swap around? I called as soon as I could but those days were full and I have other interviews on the 6th at 10th so am in a bit of a predicament... :/

Has anyone who applied to Albert Einstien child track heard back? Also, has anyone gotten a rejection from CHOC?

I am also waiting for the child track at Albert Einstein, haven't seen/heard anything suggesting they've been sent, just adult track there.

congrats on the invite! I'm scheduled on the 6th so I am no help, but I hope someone else is able to swap. It's such a guessing game scheduling these things.

Rejection - University of Colorado School of Medicine (JFK Developmental Disabilities Track)

Context: They had a deadline of 12/1 and sent out most notifications on or around 11/20 (including the JFK track I applied to). I emailed the TD this morning and just heard back - she was very apologetic, but that me not getting sent an official decline was an oversight on their part, as they have sent out notifications. To be fair, they hadn't yet noticed that I hadn't been officially rejected, so as logic might suggest, if you are waiting on an invite they could have missed you and best to follow up with them directly either way 😉.

Okay I officially am seeking moral support. I have only 2 interviews so far, and am waiting to hear back from 6 more sites (haven't heard a peep yet this week!!!). I'm driving myself crazy with this waiting and also have gotten the idea in my head that I will only have 2 interviews, which makes me very worried. Any words of guidance will be SO appreciated right now!!

You're not alone! I have 2 interviews and am waiting to hear from 7 sites (only 3 if I exclude the sites people here have heard from). My DCT's mantra is that you only need one interview to get a match...but still. The stress is real! :nailbiting:

Reframe - think of it as protected energy to really prep for the interviews you have and absolutely nail it! You got this.

Please don't take this as condescending, but congrats on your two interviews! And I mean that. I completely get how disheartening it is to only have a few interviews, and yet, it only takes 1. Of course, we are always more comfortable with more! But my friend keeps reminding me, it only takes one.

Also, don't forget, there's round 2 of the match, where really good sites get left and people match at great places. One of the faculty in my department told me yesterday about how she matched to her top choice and ended up hating it so much that she debated quitting (she's not a quitter!) and her friend didn't match round 1, but matched round 2, and loved her experience and is very successful now. So, while it would of course be an ego blow to have to do round 2, and we might feel embarrassed, at the end of the day no one is ever going to ask you if you matched round 1 once it's all over and done. Plus, we haven't even gotten to that bridge yet, because it only takes one! Congrats again on your two!

I don’t take this as condescending at all and I really appreciate you (and the previous people who replied) taking the time to give me a thoughtful reply. Sending good vibes your way!!!!

I'm so sad, but I won't be able to make the open house. The travel logistics are just not working out for me. There are literally zero flights that could get me from Portland to my already booked southeast-small-city interview on Friday. I hate that so many sites have interviews on the same few days. Even though I've already checked all the airlines and flights multiple times, I've been obsessively rechecking them over and over today in case there's some new flight that might work...

Congratulations on your invite, though! I think it's a great site and would be an amazing city to live in!

Aww that stinks. This process is so insane! I'm in a similar boat but can make it work. I'll have to fly out right after the interview to AZ and then have my AZ interview the next morning. I'm sure I'll be exhausted! There do seem to be tons of sites with overlapping interviews and way more than I thought that have only one or two options. Luckily, the VA Portland ranks us either way so you definitely could still match 🙂 Good luck to you on your other interviews!

Only four left to hear from and 4 interviews - I am crossing my fingers and toes for AT LEAST one more interview

Best practicum experience, hands down. Highly, highly recommend.

Mass rejection from Hoffman Estates Dept. of Health and Human Services. All good because I'm still waiting to hear back from 6 more. :arghh:

I haven't heard from Albert Einstein Child Track either buy I'm gonna assume it's a rejection. I haven't gotten a rejection from CHOC either but I'm sure it's a rejection.
