Those of you who are traveling to Cambridge, NYC, Philly and/or Chicago. Which airline would you recommend? I’ve traveled back and forth from SF to Philly the last three years and have had mixed success with airlines. Advice I’ve gotten from outside the forum has been to avoid spirit, frontier and southwest (the most affordable airlines!) because they tend to have extra long layovers and spotty reliability. Love some input?Need to fly out of SFO or Oakland several times in Jan and don’t want to spend a million hours in the airport or pay tons for flights.
So did we.We sent out our invites and rejections on our notification date.

Hello all,
I thought 1/2 people posted here about the Brooklyn VA (notification deadline today) sending out a mass email, though I can't seem to find those two posts now. It's a bit odd, as I had assumed I should write them off but now am a bit confused...Has anyone else received either an invitation or a rejection from this site?

Haven’t heard from them either :/Has anyone heard from New York City Children's Center- Queens Campus? They're notification date is today.
I fly between SFO and ORD very often and always on United. I also flew United to Boston recently and had a fine trip. In events I had weather-related cancellations before, I always received good accommodation from them in terms of lodging and meals. I'd highly recommend getting a card with whatever airline you're foreseeing traveling with most often for this interview season as well to get priority boarding and free luggage. Those of you who are traveling to Cambridge, NYC, Philly and/or Chicago. I also have a quick question that I am sure has been asked in here but in terms of trying to mediate a scheduling conflict, is it out of turn to ask a previous site to which you have committed to switch days? One site offered 8 dates, and told us to reply quickly as dates tend to fill up. I was given a certain day, and now do not have the space to schedule an interview I received today due to having already filled the 2 dates they are offering. I am considering going back to the first site and asking if they have another day available, but given that this is a more preferred site and that I committed to this date weeks ago, I wouldn't want to seem unaccommodating. As of now, my plan is to contact the site that wrote today and see if there are other options, but if not, would it be better to request another day from the site I've already committed to (and is preferred), or to just tell this last site I am unable to interview?
I can't speak to all those cities, but I've lived in CA and Chicago with lots of back-and-forth travel. For Los Angeles and San Francisco, I've had fairly good luck with American and Delta into/out of Chicago. I usually take whichever has the best departure/arrival time for my schedule. Delta's been more reliable, but American sometimes has their super nice new comfy planes on Chicago/West Coast flights. If you have a direct, non-stop flight, Southwest can be fine, but they've gotten as expensive as the other airlines now. Those of you who are traveling to Cambridge, NYC, Philly and/or Chicago. Which airline would you recommend? I’ve traveled back and forth from SF to Philly the last three years and have had mixed success with airlines. Love some input?Need to fly out of SFO or Oakland several times in Jan and don’t want to spend a million hours in the airport or pay tons for flights.
I do not recommend a Southwest flight with any stops or layovers. I also do not recommend Frontier or Spirit. Every time (three times) I've flown Spirit to/from Chicago, my flight has either been canceled or delayed by more than 24 hours. Essentially the inconvenience and extra expense negates any benefit of the originally more-affordable ticket.
Chicago O'hare can be a particularly difficult airport with lots of delays due to weather, so sometimes all airlines can be delayed despite your best laid plans.
Also check Chicago Midway options. It's smaller with a generally easier airport experience and often gets back on schedule more quickly than O'hare after weather delays. As of last time I was there, Midway wasn't charging the extra airport surcharge that O'hare charges if you choose to take the el rather than rent a car.
Also, if you end up flying the same airline a lot, it might be worth getting a credit card. American and Delta have great benefits (free checked bags, early boarding, discounts, etc.) and usually waive the fee the first year. And with promotions, the cost of flights, and miles flown, you'd probably earn enough miles for at least one free flight or vacation.
I have always been very successful with American! Create an account and you can board in an earlier group (has helped with being able to fit my carry on in overhead space vs. being forced to check it!) They also tend to have pretty cheap flights! Thanks for the input!

I'm reluctant to provide my opinion on this because there are several ways to view the situation, each of which will depend on your personal priorities and current circumstances, as well as an inevitable host of other variables. There are also some established psychologists on this thread who would likely offer wise advice that is more generalizable. For me, given that this is time-sensitive, I would likely engage in the same first step you mentioned - inquiring about other options with the less-preferred, more recent site. Following that, if unsuccessful, that is where it could become more complicated (maybe that's the point of resolution). Assuming a change to the previously-scheduled interview would not be last-minute, I do not necessarily believe that a candid inquiry about other openings is inherently wrong or damaging to your application, if phrased carefully. After all, you are admitting to a preference for this site yet are still attempting to navigate a scheduling conflict, so I would imagine that this is not an uncommon inquiry. However, whether or not you take this step might depend on your reasons for fitting in another interview and where you currently stand as it relates to chances of matching. There have been several posts about the APPIC statistics and diminishing returns with a high number of interviews, such that the difference in match rate between approximately 6-7 interviews and 14-15 interviews is not significant in the samples studied - more is not bad but it is seemingly unnecessary in the average case. Therefore, with sufficient interviews at sites with which you have a strong fit, adding another may not be critical to your success - particularly if you are already scheduled with a preferred site. If you wish to fit in another interview and/or this new site is one of importance to you, irrespective of reason, then attempting to make it work may be what's right for you. If this is not the case and you feel comfortable foregoing the newer invitation, I'd say that's a good problem to have.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. It would be my 7th interview, so right there on that line of 6-7...Hopefully today’s site will provide some more options, but I like your thought of phrasing a request to reschedule as an indicator I’m still very interested in the first site and am just inquiring about a different opening given new info (right now it’s scheduled for 1/6, so not too last minute). As long as I’m not too pushy, I would hope they would take it as a small request that they may receive often enough to not make particular note of that applicant as being disorganized or something. The first site is also a VA though, so I’m not sure if that changes things in terms of being able to organize/manage your time no matter what comes up. I also fear of the implication that this site likely offered so many dates so far ahead of time in order to avoid these types of things…It’ll be a difficult call, hopefully this new site simply offers a phone interview or another option. I also wouldn’t mind hearing the opinions of psychologist/previous training directors on here. But either way, appreciate the input!

Hi LAnne, sure! They’re “performance-based” questions that try to get a deeper look at your process. So questions like, “Tell me about a time when you disagreed with a supervisor.” “Tell me about a case that didn’t go well and what you learned from it.” That kind of stuff.
Thanks so much! I get a kick out of it and it was a good conversation starter when I was online dating. [emoji23]
Thank you! I saw earlier posts about this but didn’t put the two together. Very helpful!

I agree with previous posts that budget airlines (e.g., Frontier, Spirit, Allegiant) are not the best use of one's money. They have frequent delays and these delays are often long (see chart below). JetBlue argues that its delays are more frequent because a larger proportion of its flights happen in the Northeast corridor, which is "congested", compared to other airlines. (Here's an analysis of the Department of Transportation statistics - This Chart Shows Which Airline Is the WORST When It Comes to Delays and here are the data: OST_R | BTS | Title from h2).
Personally, I wouldn't say I'd recommend any specific non-budget airline for this sort of situation. Whatever is least expensive and has the fewest connections is likely best.

At my site we offer 7 days with several slots per day. All of our spots are typically filled within 2 days of sending the invite. It’s likely true for this site as well. If someone asks me a couple of weeks later about changing dates, I typically can not accommodate it but I don’t hold it against the person asking.

Cambridge Health Alliance has 9 tracks, anyone else hear from them aside from these tracks?
Child OP/Adult OP track (Track II)
CHA/Weil Foundation track (Track IV)
Adult Neuropsychology and Adult Primary Care/Behavioral Health (Track V)
Pediatric Primary Care/Behavioral Health and School-Based Mental Health Clinic (Track VI)
Adult Primary Care/Adult OP track (Track VII)
There is no info on:
Track I (Adult General Psychiatry Outpatient Service and Adult Acute Services)
Track III (A or B) - Latino Tracks
Track VIII (Population Health/Adult Outpatient/Substance Abuse Focus)
Track IX (Population Health/Child and Adolescent Outpatient/Substance Abuse)
I received a general rejection, and had applied to Tracks I and VII, so I'm assuming they're clumping everyone together. Probably a good sign if you haven't heard either way??

Has anyone gotten rejections from Fraser (their notification was listed as during the week of 12/9) or Kennedy Krieger Institute Center for Child and Family Traumatic Stress? These are the only 2 sites I’m waiting on and I believe they have both already made interview offers.
I'm still waiting on any word from the Center for Child and Family Traumatic Stress at KKI.
