APPIC Interview Invitation Thread (2021)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
jw if anyone has any insight: is it common for sites to wait until 12/15 to send out rejections?

also has anyone received a rejection from the Washington DC VA?

FBOP applicants - I just emailed the DCT asking about the OF 15 form and what to put for the box asking about the number of days I can report for duty after receiving an offer. I will let you all know what she says!
Thank you! Also, I haven’t recieved my OF 15 form yet. I’ve continually checked my inbox and junk mail. Is anyone in the same boat? I’ll reach out to someone from one of my sites tomorrow to ask.

I also haven’t received anything after the qualified email.
The form seems to be site-specific (it has the name of the site at the top) and I've only received it from one of my sites (late Friday). I would guess they didn't work over the weekend so more will probably be coming soon!

**I am a bit confused about the date as on APPIC they were clear about making the date 01/07, but it looks like they changed it at the last minute

Has anyone heard from Ohio Psychology Internship for the Inpatient track? I know some people have heard from the Forensic track but I haven’t seen anything about Inpatient. I haven’t received a rejection or an invite.

I also applied to neuro but my email said I was invited for the rehab track. Not sure if they are sending each track separately. I was really hoping to get an interview for both!

Has anyone run into issues with sites receiving their emails? I have now had two separate sites that had to follow up with me saying I did not respond to their original email, when I did respond right away. It's really frustrating as I have little control over their organization marking my email as spam, if that's what is occurring. Does anyone have insight into any ways to fix/address this?

Friends waiting on San Bernardino--should we message them since it's 3 days past when they said they'd be sending responses?
I was thinking maybe wait for 3 business days after? I'm anxious too but there was a Saturday and Sunday in there and it's still early Mon morning on the West :]

Rejection from VA Western Colorado Health Care System. This one kinda stings.
Current intern here checking the forum as my partner applies for internship this year and I just wanted to offer a little reassurance here. I had the same experience last year, being completely honest VA Western Colorado was the last of 19 rejections I received in Phase I, needless to say it stung...a lot. This process plays on everyone's imposter syndrome and highest level of anxiety and I would argue is by no means an accurate assessment of one's abilities as a clinician. I matched in phase II after interviewing at notable VAs that on paper were considerably more competitive and established than VA Western Colorado. I say this not to put down or criticize the training of different sites but rather to highlight the importance of fit. This process works in crazy ways and I encourage you to do your best to let this one go and go in to whatever is next for you and remember this rejection does not define you as a clinician!

I remember seeing a post on this thread specific to VAs having strong spam filters that gave people trouble. I haven't had issues with my sites, but I also didn't apply to any VAs. Sorry you're having trouble 🙁

Has anyone heard back from Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial VA for the Neuropsych Track? They listed deadline on APPIC was 12/1

Thank you! Yes, at first I thought it was the same VA issue, but the second site that did not receive my email is not a VA site, so now I'm more confused haha.

Sometimes the problems can come from the particular domain of your email address. For example, some emails from Hotmail/Yahoo might go to spam more often than those from Gmail. Wishing you all the best!

This happened to me with two separate sites as well. I apologized for the mishap and when I responded I asked them to confirm that they received my email given my previous email did not go through.

I also included in my email that if I did not hear back from them the same day that I would follow up via phone call.

I am not aware of a way for us to fix this on our end.

Thank you so much for your support. It was hard because I really thought that I was a great match for this internship program. Unfortunately, the selection committee did not feel the same way.
