Duke SOM rejection for those waiting
It means that they are interested in having you as a member of their incoming intern class 🙂 It doesn't matter where we're "ranked", as long as we get to where we want to be (which is matched)!I just got offered an interview for Neuropsych at University of Florida just this morning.....I saw that they sent out invites over 2 weeks ago and then rejections last night. Did this happen to anyone else? Does this mean I am "second tier" for them?
Also waiting! I heard they start sending out interviews closer to the deadline because they start getting inundated with post doc apps which are due on the same day as our notification dateHas anyone heard from Patton? Their notification date is the 15th but the past couple years, they notified 11/30 and 12/6. I'll be patient with the other 5 I'm still waiting to hear from :]
It is kind, but not necessary, especially given the amount of emails sites are getting during internship and post doc season.Should I write a thank you email after my interview with a site? I interviewed with several people. Should I include all of them on the email?
If you're going to send thank you emails, I would send them individually to each person you interviewed with and add something specific from your interview to personalize it.Should I write a thank you email after my interview with a site? I interviewed with several people. Should I include all of them on the email?
I wrote separate emails for each person I interviewed with and tried to personalize the email. I would say definitely do that for sites you're going to rank highShould I write a thank you email after my interview with a site? I interviewed with several people. Should I include all of them on the email?
OOop just got my rejection @MorningviewI also have not gotten a rejection from Duke yet.
After one of my interviews the TD made a point to stress that that was not expected and they weren’t keeping tallies of that. It varies by site/individual of course, but I’d hope they’d all understand, especially given how overwhelmed they are with how many applicants they’re interviewing.Should I write a thank you email after my interview with a site? sameI have not heard from them yet either
I would say, yes, definitely apply! Someone from my program re-applied to 3 sites that ended up in Phase II and ended up matching at the site that was his top choice in Phase I. I think that if we don't get an interview at this phase, it could be because we were #15 on their list and they invited 14 to interview (for him it was maybe #6 out of 5 interviewees I think?). When those 5 didn't blow the site away in interviews and/or weren't a great match, it ended up that it was meant to be for him.I have a question regarding the applications in Phase 2. If we are rejected by the site and if the site participates in Phase 2, should we apply? I wonder if they rejected us probably it was not a good fit for them?

I heard back from El Paso Consortium via a phone call late November. They left a voicemail and responded immediately when I returned their call!Posting on behalf of someone in my cohort; has anyone heard from the following?
Miami VA
El Paso Consortium
Orlando VA
Caribbean VA
Sharp Healthcare
I know people who were rejected in phase 1 and matched to that site in phase 2! Definitely apply if you feel it is a good fit.I have a question regarding the applications in Phase 2. waiting too!Has anyone heard from Denver Health for the Adult Substance Use tracks (integrated or corrections)?
I have heard that this does not increase your chances of being matched. Plus imagine how many emails these people are getting. If you're going to send thank you emails, I would send them individually to each person you interviewed with and add something specific from your interview to personalize it.
Did you apply to NDOC's other sites?Rejection - advocate Illinois masonic medical center. mass email 12/9
and:
Official Site Name: Valley State Prison - Northern California Dept of Corrections
Date Invitation Received: 12/09/20
Method of Invitation (Phone call, personal/mass email, Snapchat): appears to be a personal email
Specialty Track or Site (e.g., for consortiums): N/A
Interview Dates Offered: 1/8 at 10am is all that I was offered, oddly specific
How/if staying sane: you could say I am sinking slowly into despair
No, I’m waiting for the integrated one. I saw they sent out a few mass emails for other tracks so... maybe they’ll send out these tracks soon?Has anyone heard from Denver Health for the Adult Substance Use tracks (integrated or corrections)?
I'm also waiting to hear about peds neuro there. Notification date on APPIC is 12/15 🙁Anyone heard from Henry Ford for peds neuro?
Nothing from USF over here.Has anyone heard back from the University of South Florida or Johns Hopkins University CAPS?
This could just be me, but I like to personalize them, include specifics from our conversations, and definitely show my interest and excitement about their site if I truly think it is a good fit! If it's not a good fit, maybe keeping it more simple? Also, how are people sending thank you emails? Do you emphasize the match between you and the site or just keep it simple?
SAME! I want to go on internship with you, Aunt Sue!Idk who you are but ur posts make me give me life and for that i am grateful 🤣
Yes!!! And they all have notification deadlines between now and Monday. I keep worrying if it means I am going to get 10 rejections in a day. Time to practice what I preach and use some skills I guess >.<![]()
The fact that I haven't heard back from 10 sites and we are getting so close to the final deadlines is so much more distressing and anxiety-provoking than I could have imagined. I am NOT staying sane right now.... are there others who are still in this boat?? Please tell me I am not out at sea alone.
Waiting for 12 out of 17. I am not well.![]()

No, I don't think it increases your chances, but it's a nice thing to do after all of the time they put into reviewing your app and interviewing you. and if they're getting too many email thank yous they have no obligation to respond. I have had 2 people respond and 2 people ignore me lolI have heard that this does not increase your chances of being matched. Plus imagine how many emails these people are getting.
We're all going end up with alcohol poisoning 🤣To all feeling stressed and emotional (so...maybe everyone?):
My cohort has come up with a rejection letter drinking game. We haven't started yet but are taking suggestions for updates!
Take a drink if a site:
- wishes you well/the best/good luck with match
- says that other applicants were a better "fit"
- mentions the number of applicants
- says the applications were "competitive"
- refers to the number of applicants or the competitiveness of this cycle as "unprecedented"
Take a shot if a site:
- sends an email has a typo
- says they'll keep your application on file
- does not address the email at all (no Dear Applicant or Dear NAME)…just rejects you
- wasn't even in your top 50% of favorites but you still feel righteous anger at having been rejected
Finish your drink if:
- the rejection letter is three sentences or less
- it ended up in your spam folder (where it belongs)
[Disclaimer: this is all in good fun--just want to make the process feel less heavy and normalize that we are all going through it!]
I have not heard anything!Has anyone heard anything from University of Texas at Austin counseling center?
Also waiting for 10 sites!! 😣![]()

do you mean the other specific site options within the NCDCRC? I did not specify interest in any of the specific options (e.g., Cali state prison, valley state prison, cali men's colony), I just said I was interested in all of them on the AAPI and then did a general cover letter to NCDCRC. I'm not sure why it was valley state prison that contacted me, as i didnt specify i was interested in them specifically over the other two. did that answer your question or did you mean something else?Did you apply to NDOC's other sites?
Finish two drinks if they say they're looking forward to meeting you and attach a rejection letter (per someone's post yesterday😳).To all feeling stressed and emotional (so...maybe everyone?):

Finish a bottle if you get both a rejection and interview invitation from the same site, as per someone’s post a week or two ago. 🙄💀Finish two drinks if they say they're looking forward to meeting you and attach a rejection letter (per someone's post yesterday😳).

Oh they profusely apologized and told me that I am very much so invited to interview and to please not let this reflect poorly on them. I interviewed Tuesday and from my perspective it was absolutely phenomenal!!What happened in the end?!
Yay, good for you!!! But that beginning scenario is what my nightmares are made of. 😂Oh they profusely apologized and told me that I am very much so invited to interview and to please not let this reflect poorly on them. I interviewed Tuesday and from my perspective it was absolutely phenomenal!!
