Anyone interviewing at Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility, did you have trouble opening several of the attachments sent by the training director? I tried updating my Adobe Reader and still no luck

Same here! Got it a couple of hours ago 🙂

Just got a call from Carla at Henry Ford abut scheduling my interview. Thankfully I was available when she called..... but it could easily turn into cat-and-mouse game! :cat:
I ended up getting lucky as well, after leaving a second message, though it is certainly a suboptimal approach to scheduling.
Glad you both heard back! Was the call from a blocked number? I received a call today from a blocked number around 1:05pm EST, but I didn't pick up bc it was blocked and I was in a meeting, and the person calling didn't leave a message.

And agreed, there are better approaches to scheduling that they will hopefully employ in the future 🙂👍

And just like that my watch has officially ended! Please keep posting new invitation invites/interview queries/Aunt Sue love on the thread. I’m glad to have gotten through this anxiety-provoking time with such a kind and supportive group and will be rooting for everyone from the sidelines. Stay warm, rested, and healthy. We got this!!!

Yes, that's how the call showed up on my phone. However, a voicemail was left when I missed the first call, simply asking me to call the main number back (the one we initially called). But I can't imagine one would be held accountable for not calling back if a voicemail wasn't left for you, so maybe they will try again tomorrow.

Yes to UCSB & CSUN, but still nothing from Fullerton and I believe today is their final notification day? Any update on your end?
I'm waiting on Fullerton as well! Just double-checked their notification date was today to make sure I wasn't mistaken...

At this stage I just want news! Good or bad, I'm so ready for this final push of notifications to be over. I saw that APPIC email a while back saying you can contact sites the morning after their notification deadline if you don't hear from them - think you'll do that tomorrow or hold tight for a couple more days in case they're just delayed?

Same here! They're the last site I'm waiting to hear from and was SO looking forward to being done compulsively refreshing my email! I might hold off for one more day, but very well might just email if the anxiety gets to me hahah

YES with the compulsive refreshing!! I feel you, and they're my last site too! Hopefully we wake up to news - I don't know if it's relevant but I see posts from past years asking about Fullerton news in Phase I and II, so maybe they run a little late?

Youth Services! Their brochure said they would notify all applicants via email on 12/17.

Thank you! This was helpful info

You made some really good points. I guess I'm just caught up on the statistics and data of match rates. Thank you so much!😊

Well considering we're taught to pay attention to the stats as we prepare for application season, go into interview season, and then prepare for rankings, etc. you are not doing anything wrong. In fact none of us are. We are told "this is what the stats say, plan accordingly."

However this year, none of those algorithms that our field normally relies on are going to be applicable because there are way too many other factors. I have learned some really interesting things from TDs and DCTs in my network that may be helpful for others here:

1) Phase 1 is largely a fight for candidates that everyone deems to be top candidates, as in the very top. That doesn't mean that everyone else is not qualified, just that we cannot all be at the very top.
2) If Phase 1 results in not matching, regardless of why/how/who cares, everyone in this situation should proceed to Phase 2. The extra factors making this season weird are being predicted to make Phase 2 weird as well, so anyone who ends up there should view it as just a part of the process and not a personal failure or an indication of poor qualifications. Between the extra factors and not every site can have the top candidate they ranked, it is really just round 1 and that is all. This might be why we all pay for Phase 2 as part of our Phase 1 fees and something that is free and could be a good thing should not be turned down.
3) Anyone who proceeds to Phase 2 should absolutely include sites from Phase 1 that they did not receive an interview invitation at and/or did not match at if they are available choices in addition to other sites that are of interest.
4) Preparation for a possible Phase 2 should start now, especially for anyone who has few interviews. At the very least a CV update, progress on dissertation are helpful, and a review of how cover letters were structured are all helpful. Apparently in Phase 2 it is not abnormal to be asked what is new since Phase 1 and if reapplying to any sites a revised cover letter is a good idea. Redoing the essays is not required, but there is nothing wrong with giving them another review for minor changes or getting another opinion on them if that is desired.

Did anyone else get waitlisted at the end of November by Childrens Colorado? If so, have you heard from them either way on your status since this then? I know they said would notify by 12/22

I got a rejection from Fullerton late last night (I was already asleep)- so maybe hope for you?

I got 3 calls from a blocked number while I was in a feedback and the 2nd one included a voicemail from them. The first 2 were right after each other and the 3rd call was about 10 minutes later. When I called back I had to leave a message, which thankfully was returned within about 30 minutes.

Definitely room to improve with scheduling approaches! Hope you are able to make contact with them soon.

This is good information. Thank you for posting it. I would like to add to your first point.

A "top candidate" at one site is not necessarily a top candidate at all other sites. This is about a Match, and that includes not only your experiences, skills and knowledge, but also a culture and personality fit. Over the years we have seen some very impressive applications and candidates that were simply not a good fit for the program. So, although you may not be a top candidate for sites A & B, you could very well be for sites C, D & E. Hang in there, everyone.

Yeah personally I've seen some people here get invites at places I've been rejected at but then rejections at places I've gotten interviews at with also some overlap. It's hard not to take it personally BUT I think it is good advice to remember it boils down to fit (and also that some things are just totally out of our control/change year to year/site to site)! And honestly mostly EVERYONE I know who has gone through the match (in my program and other local programs) has ended up pretty happy with their placements even if they weren't initially. If it's helpful, right now I'm just focusing on doing the best I can do in my interviews and then hopefully matching and then forgetting this all ever happened haha

I know some of these sites have been mentioned but I am not always sure about track specifics.

Has anyone heard of invitations/rejections from:
Duke SOM - Autism Track?
- I have not seen any comments that specified the ASD track...
Mount Washington - Neuro?
- I have only seen a second hand comment stating something like my friend was invited for the neuro track...
KKI Trauma?
- This one had some movement yesterday it seems but I am still living in radio silence from the site

This was really helpful! Thank you for taking the time to write this out!

Anyone else switching their application anxiety to interview anxiety? What I wouldn't give for just having the usual end of semester/holiday season anxiety!
Yep! And then combine that with anxiety over skyrocketing Covid cases in my area and the fact that people just aren’t wearing masks… It’s been one heck of an interview season and that’s not going to let up anytime soon. But… Chin up! We are almost at the end! All of this will be worth it when you get that diploma in your hands.

Absolutely! It's all a matter of hanging in there and embracing the suck. We'll all get through this. I just wish I had taken the next six weeks off from work.
