I am just about to e-summit my application

but just not i realized that some school requires application fee sent

at the same time you summit your application to AADSAS.

that means, as soon as i e-summit my application, i have to write checks

to dental school with my photo? even they do not even ask?

Yes, as soon as your e-submit your AADSAS (or at least within a week or so) you should send the supplemental checks to the schools and your photo (if it is required). Schools will not deem your application complete unless they have these as well (especially the check), so its best to go ahead and send them. Most schools will assume you're sending the check to them and won't ask for it, or if they do it'll be very late in the cycle when you call them to see why you haven't been interviewed and they tell you its because your app isn't complete since they haven't received the check. Its best to check each school your applying to's website to find out the amount and if they have any other supplemental info you need to send them.

What if I have not yet taken the dat yet? I was thinking about doing supplements right after DAT.

You should go ahead and send them in as soon as possible so that the schools can open your application with them. Unless you think you're going to bomb your DAT and subsequently withdraw all of your applications.. but then you've already paid AADSAS so you might as well complete your apps now. I know, it sucks to pay so much. I think of it as an investment - calling it that helps me sleep at night..

Unless you're applying to a crapload of schools (like 25 since it costs $25 for each additional school you send DAT scores to and you should've listed 5 schools when you registered for the DAT), it shouldn't be $500 to send scores...

And you don't literally have to submit supplementals and application fees to schools at the same time as you e-submit your AADSAS. It takes time for AADSAS to verify your grades and what not, so although schools will have electronic access to your AADSAS app, they won't review anything until grades have been verified.

Then again, as others have said, get it in ASAP since they won't even consider your application until they get their $$$.

17 schools may be a lot, but it's not "like 25". 25 schools would be close to $700.

It wouldn't be acceptable on the QR portion on the DAT; therefore, it isn't acceptable on SDN.

I thought the supplemental material was only given when the dental schools ask for it? you send it in around the same time as submitting your application?
