Okay, I have completed my application, pending verification around 9/1, and my MCAT scores will be available 9/1. On my application, I said that I would be retaking the MCAT 9/4. If schools like my application as it is on 9/1, will they still send me secondaries/interview invites? Or will they necessarily wait for the additional scores?

Most schools will not review your application until they get all pending mcat scores, so you will have to wait for scores from the September exam to come out. They can choose to send you an interview invite if your mcat score from your first exam was high enough but don't count on it.

If I decide that my scores on 9/1 are good enough and I don't take the 9/4 MCAT, can I notify the schools of this change? And if so, what's the process for that?

You can change the date for the next mcat on your AMCAS application. When schools download the updated copy, they will know not to expect any new MCATs. If you want a quicker turnaround, I would call your schools and let them know.

Really?? Even though it's already been submitted??

Yes, it's one of the few fields you can change on AMCAS after you submit.
