For the past few days I've been trying to create the list of programs I will be applying to but I'm having a difficult time getting the list below 90 programs. Part of the problem is I am a DO and I figure half of the programs on my list won't interview me regardless of my stats but at the same time when I was applying to medical school I only applied to 3 schools and I don't want to make that same mistake. On top of that I don't have a lot of community programs on my list and was wondering if I should add more of those.
Stats include step 1 257, step 2 262, class rank top 5%, my school doesn't have honors for 3rd year but shelf scores were 85+ percentile for all of them and all good/great evals from preceptors, some minor research in undergrad with a poster and oral presentation, 2 full months of rads research at a very highly rated academic institution as a 4th year but nothing will be published for a few months (after applications are out), 4 LORs one in rads (academic), anesthesia, family, psych and then normal extracurriculars (nothing super special).
My list thus far is shown below;
So with that in mind, any particular programs you guys think I should add (ie more community programs). The only area of the country I would not like to live in is the South East (although I do have a few programs in Florida/Georgia right now...). I'm also not a big city person so huge cities like New York City would be less than ideal but tolerable. Other than that I just want to go to a solid program that has a good case volume and prepare me well after residency.
