application mailing out on July 30th, still considered early?..

is it still considered early?...

Depends on how you define early and who you are comparing yourself to. Schools have already started sending interview invites and denials. So compared to the 1,000 people who applied before you and are already being considered-you aren't early. Compared to the 500 apps they receive after August or whatever you are early. Imagine a bell curve and where you might fall and I would think you're on the tail end of the top of the curve. Do you call that early?

I think this is a little exaggerated. July 30th is the 4th mailing. There are about 3-4 months of hefty mailings to follow. Even if your application is mailed on the 30th, many schools wont review apps until later this summer and some schools are still trying to fill the incoming class. There may also be people who have submitted an application but for whatever reason (DAT, LOR, etc) wont be completed and reviewed anyway. So, I think OP is still early. Where did you get these numbers from? I'm sure more than 1000 people submitted prior to today and thousands more will submit until AADSAS closes in 2011.

Not exact numbers, and I was estimating the numbers for the schools that accept lots of OOS apps have probably received not the total being mailed out. Schools that take 95% in state (and if you live in state) will probably consider you a lot later and those specifically for OOS stop looking at apps that are received after Oct.
