Application

Oh yeah.. the reason I'm asking is because I'm still waiting on 2/3 of my references. 🙁 and also.. I'm debating whether to submit PharmCas after I finish my summer classes.. I'm not sure if it will help me more to have an additional itty bitty boost in gpa (3.05 to 3.06) or to just get apps in as early as possible.

I doubt that GPA boost will make a difference as significant as send your app in early. I luckily caught a little break, as my GPA difference will be the same as yours after one summer class, but I'm going from 3.19 to 3.20, so I'm waiting on that one. A three-point-two looks alot better than a three-point-one-something in my opinion, you know what I mean? If I were you, I would just send my app in early.

As for the eLOR not found in inbox/junk, the same thing happened to me w/my boss. She couldn't find it. I just deleted her as a reference, and added her again with her personal email account. It showed in her inbox literally about 30 sec after I inputted the info lol

I e-submitted my app a few hours ago. I did it after class, then came to work and was surprised to find that they already calculated my GPA (so much for it taking 5 weeks to calculate it lol)

So I called them and found out that they won't send out any applications until the first week of August! ahh, I wish they sent them out sooner....I try to be patient w/everything but this is mind-wreckingggggg :scared:

quick question about the pharmcas application..

i spent 3 years at a community college...when inputting grades do i consider my 3rd year at the community college my "junior" year?

and since i transfered to the university as a 3rd year...for my university grades would i also put "junior" for my 3rd year?

So I will have a science prof, academic advisor, and someone from my volunteer organization be my 3 letters of reference. But NOVA requires 3 profs or 1 letter from a pre health committee, um.....none of my references fit into that criteria? I don't know what to do!

Man I wish Texas schools used pharmcas it would make things alot easier. In stead when I apply I will have to do every school individually, plus it cost me more money when I want to send my pcat scores out😱

If they require 3 letters from professors, then you'll have to find 2 other professors to write you a letter of recommendation. Alternatively, you may call NOVA to see if they will accept substitution letters.

Yup that sounds right.

oh my goodness my pharmcas GPA is so low. it's a 3.08. i'm losing hope
also, the way they categorize the classes is so funky...

do they look at official transcripts for trends in GPA's? my pharmcas GPA calculation shows trends but not that much...my official transcript shows a significant one (3.93GPA this past year at the university)

Yes they do look for trends in GPA. You may want to do additional research to see which schools place an emphasis on such trends. Another thing you can do is mention that improvement in your personal statement. Saying you got a 3.93 in your final year at the university vs. your overall GPA of 3.08 will definitely showcase the difference.

Just do the best you can to strengthen the rest of your application and you'll be fine =)

And their applications aren't available yet to start looking over!

Just curious, why is the pharmcas gpa different from your transcript gpa? does your school replace grades from re-taken classes or use freshman forgiveness or something? I really hope my pharmcas gpa isnt lower!

my cumulative GPA is 3.29. my pharmcas GPA is 3.08

i believe they do add in the classes you retake...i had 2 D's and 1 F and i retook them all so apparently they don't ignore those...sigh

I'd check PharmCAS on this one. Since there's no such thing as a junior in CC (highest you can be is sophmore), I'd suggest putting sophmore down for 3rd year. The same thing would apply for a 4 year. I had 3 senior years at CSUSB and no junior year since they determined my class based on the number of units completed and I had over 100 CC units.

Do I absolutely have to submit the PharmCas app before the supplemental apps? Will the schools toss the supplemental apps aside if they haven't received the PharmCas app yet?

I'm not really sure, but there's not much point in submitting them until they have your PharmCAS application anyway, so I'd get the supplemental application ready and submit it at the same time you submit your PharmCAS application. They'll probably get the supplemental before they get your actual PharmCAS file, but they'd at least be aware you'd submitted a PharmCAS application at that point.

so um...what happens when one of the recommenders can't find the pharmcas email in his inbox or junk folder?

Two things, you can contact PharmCAS and try to have them send another, or you could probably remove him as a recommender and then reenter him as a recommender, that should automatically generate another LOR request from PharmCAS.

The other problem this would cause is if any of the schools you're applying to require a pharmacist LOR. Since PharmCAS only allows a max of 3 you'd need 3 from profs + 1 from a pharmacist. Someone would have to make some sort of exception or allow you to mail the LOR directly to the school or something. Definitely make sure your LOR requirements are met though, regardless of whether that means you get an authorized exception or you headhunt for those 2 extra profs LORs.

So if pharmCAS doesn't forward your application until August, what happens if you applied in June/July to schools with rolling admissions? When they receive your supps in june/july, will they they know that you've submitted your pharmCAS already too?

how are they reviewing in june/july (if they even are) if pharmCAS doesn't forward your app until around august?

Sorry if I have been repetitive but I'm still a bit confused about the LORs.

--If I send in 3 LORs, but a school only requires 2, can I choose which are sent to them, instead of letting them see all THREE?

I ask this because UW allows an LOR from a co-volunteer but Creighton says it might hurt my app for a peer to write one (they only require 2 LORs). I chose this person because we planned and hosted scholarship workshops together on our own and this person knows how important volunteering and pharmacy are to me. This person isn't just a random co-volunteer. But yeah maybe I should pick another LOR or is there a way only the other 2 can be sent to Creighton, etc? I already have a science prof and a liberal arts prof as my other 2 LORs.

question

i have asked my professor for a letter many times..its been 2 months i have been asking her for it...i deleted her name on pharmcas and added it again so she will get another email and then i emailed her explaining the whole thing again....and she said she will finish it that very day...but..its been 2 weeks since then...

i dont wanna bother her but how should i ask her AGAIN.. like the 5th time

i know she will write me a good letter and she is willing to do it ...and she is just begin lazy...

another question
is sending your application at the end of august still considered early or is it kinda late??

i think the earlier you submit, the less time it takes for PharmCas to calculate your gpa and etc. i e-submitted my app on thursday and my gpa was calculated today

i've finished my pharmcas apps months ago, but i'm still waiting for my LORs. it seems like my professors and pharmacist are MIA or something, because i keep reminding them. should i just submit the pharmcas stuff now or wait for ALL the LORs to come in? i really want everything to be done and over with, so i can work on my supplemental apps. i'm tired of waiting!

If I take different courses (but fulfill the required ones) from the ones I put in the "course work" section of my pharmcas, will this negatively affect me???

i didn't feel like creating a new thread...but i have a question about my supplemental

what if i turned in my supplemental now, but they won't recieve my pcat score for another 5 weeks (i took it on august 25th) will my application be reviewed or will they set it aside until they get my pcat score?

i want to know because it is a rolling admissions school

Probably depends on the school, but I think for most schools they dont look at your application until it's totally complete..including pcat score.
