So I applied to Dartmouth and was offered an interview...and then a week later Brown invited me to an interview even though I didn't apply! I know they have some sort of joint program, but isn't it weird to bypass the whole primary/secondary aspect of their application? Did anyone else get this? 😕

Nope! I applied to Dartmouth and chose the Dartmouth/Brown program...no correspondance/interview offer from Brown even though I was offered acceptance to D/B!

Good luck - it must be a good sign of some sort! :luck: :luck: :luck:

congrats sbristow! can i ask when you interviewed and received your acceptance for hte D/B program? is it one of your top choices? i see from your MDapps profile that you'll have many schools to choose from!

I got this invite too. I applied to Brown, but the packet I got with the interview invite specifically referenced Brown/Dartmouth as how they got my contact info.

I just assumed that the packet and interview invite were to drum up interest in the Brown-Dartmouth program, since there isn't always a representatitve from Brown at the Dartmouth interview days, and you have to decide at that point which program you are interested in.

If they are outright interviewing people for the four year program, wouldn't that be pretty underhanded as they would be siphoning qualified applicants from Dartmouth?

Did you get a letter to interview or to visit? brown also contacted me asking me to visit, but specifically said that this was NOT an interview for admission to brown.

yeah, I got something like that in the mail too... a huge package or something..... unfortunately I am out interviewing right now, so I will take a closer look at the packcage when I get home.. I think it's an interview offer.. well, that's what my roommate told me over the phone. I am not sure yet.

OK, I just looked over it again, and they encourage you to visit during interview days, but it is not necessarily an interview. However, there will be a rep from brown at Dartmouth when I interview there on the 15th (two days!), so i will try and get more info to pass along.

hey miss bean,
i'll be there on the 15 th too!! aaaaaaaaa!
bachi!

I got that package too but like everyone said they encourage you to see the Brown campus for the Brown-dartmouth program it's not an actual interview. You have to go thru the whole primary, secondary to get the interview from Brown and they notify you vial email for interviews.

I interviewed on Dartmouth's 1st day ... sept. 9th or something like that. I'm not sure if it's at the top of my list, but I am excited about the aid Dartmouth and Brown students seem to get. Its all about the finaid packages!

good luck!! :luck:

I don't know...my letter talks about scheduling a visit, but it also says near the bottom (and I quote)

"In addition, a member of the Brown admissions staff will visit Dartmouth Medical School on the interview dates below. They will speak to you during the morning group applicant session and will interview several candidates in the afternoon. If you wish to interview with a Brown representative on one of those dates, please indicate your preference to..."

So is that a real interview? Or is it something to get me interested in the brown-dartmouth program?

If you're interested in the Brown-Dartmouth program, you can request to interview with the Brown rep, but that will replace one of your Dartmouth interviews. So it is a real interview, but it's not for Brown, it's for Brown-Dartmouth.
