Hi,

I am not sure if I should apply this year to dental school or wait. I haven't taken Bio I, II; Orgo I and II...so I talked to someone in Kaplan and she said she didn't recommend taking the DAT w/out this pre-reqs..I haven't had a lot of shadowing..only like 4 hours. My Science GPA is 3.57 and my CGPA is 3.49...I have taken Bio classes before (when I did my A.A. degree) and this July will have more shadowing hours as I was chosen to go to a Dental Medicine Program. What I want to know is if I stand a chance at the DAT w/out the pre-reqs and only taking a Kaplan course. ohh and I only have one LOR from my chemistry professor. 😱

Well ask yourself how you did in the class? Did you do well in the orgo and bio science sections? If so, give it a whirl. If not, then don't.

I haven't taken Bio I and Bio II, Org I and Org II. I ahve taken biology classes in the past, but not these pre-reqs.

its better if you wait until the next cycle. come on, you can't get accepted without a bachelor degree. its not possible to score high without taking the required courses. some students took all the required courses and scored average in the dat. 4 hours of shadowing aren't enough and 1 LOR isn't enough. if you take the required courses this year then you can apply in the NEXT cycle.

I wouldnt say its not possible to score high without taking these classes... You would be suprised how u can teach yourself some material... If u want to put the time in, go ahead and apply and give it a shot... If not, get your bearings set straight and shoot for it next year! Best of luck to u 👍

4 hours of shadowing probably isnt going to get you into any dental school. They really stress shadowing with dentistry.
