My current plan is to take the July 13 MCAT. Is there any advantage in pushing myself to take it a bit earlier, ie June 20 or July 2? With my heavy courseload, work and ECs, I can't quite fit prep into my schedule during the semester, so I plan to do most of my reviewing after class ends this semester.

MCAT - June 20, 2013 Tentative score release - July 23, 2013

MCAT - July 2, 2013 Tentative score release - August 6, 2013

MCAT - July 13, 2013 Tentative score release - August 13, 2013

Take it when you know you're ready. A release date of Aug 13th is perfectly fine, so long as you already submitted your app a month prior and had your transcripts verified.

I agree. Submit your app on the first day to your state school (or any school that you would apply to no matter what). Then wait for your score to come back to add more schools.

If you can finish your application around the time you take your MCAT then July 13th wont be as much of a problem. I had a similar situation though.

I psotponed from May 31st to July 14th, hwoever, I was so burnt out I couldn't even start working on my application until August. I submitted August 9th and have had a painful and heart-breaking cycle because of it.

I truly think an early application with a 30-31 is better than a late application with a 34, so keep that in mind.

Only take the July MCAT if you'll be working on your personal statement/EC descriptions WHILE studying for your MCAT- which can be tough.

Start spending a couple hours a week now so it's not too intense. Get your application edited multiple multiple times and submit July 7th or so (your verification time will probably take 5-6 weeks) that way you will be verified when your MCAT score is released. Your looking to be completely ready for secondaries in Mid August.

ALSO- PRE-WRITE YOUR SECONDARIES. That means in the time waiting between getting your MCAT scores, start writing your secondary prompts. Ideally because of your later MCAT time, you want to submit most to all of your secondaries the same day that you get them. If so, you should be complete at the majority of your schools in mid to late august.

That is average to average/late.

I personally think you should take the June MCAT if you are scoring well and aim for the early application
