I have been confused through this whole process about people saying that applying early without DAT scores will still help you in the long run. Basically heres what I am asking. My app was mailed on 7/6 (although i have 2 mailing dates.. that and 8/10) but I was missing my DAT scores. What I am wondering... will the fact that I applied "early" without my DAT scores help me? I feel like it won't make a difference and that technically I am in whatever batch is being sent out this friday. Could someone explain this to me? thanks!

Your GPA gets verified quicker. Other then that, I don't see a big difference.

It takes time for AADSAS to process everything INITIALLY (ie calculating your gpa with your transcripts, and imputing your evaluations) thats about 2-3weeks. So, if you can get that done before you take your DAT, there is less of a delay. It takes AADSAS 2-3 weeks to process your DAT. It's also a good thing for the schools to have a file for you and they will collect all your material from AADSAS as they come in.

In the end, your application won't be reviewed by the schools until everything (including ur DAT) is received. So no, the fact that you applied "early" won't help you, and you're right that you are in whatever batch the last component of your application will be sent.

But it's still nice to have everything done beforehand right??

Like CJ7 said, it allows for quicker processing. And though DAT processing takes some time as well, certain schools will begin to consider your application if they allow you to fax over the unofficial scores. So I would call the schools that you're interested and fax the scores over as soon as you take it, to speed things up a little.
