Hi all. I am currently a D3 heading into my D4 year starting at the end of May. I had some changes in my life and decided that I want to pursue OS after graduating. Ive been borderline for a couple years now on it but finally going to act on it. However, I had a couple questions. My class rank isn't stellar (49/132) and my GPA is decent (3.7). Realistically, what does your class rank and GPA need to be to have a good chance in matching into a program? Additionally, I have not taken the CBSE yet and am looking to take it this August (if it happens with this virus situation). Is 4 months of hard dedicated studying enough time to do well on this exam? Any feedback/advice would be much appreciate. Thank you!

I think 4 hard months is adequate, it depends on how you study and if you can get through the material well enough to know it and comprehend it in that matter of time.

Some programs do look at your class rank harder than other in my experience. Some programs I interviewed at mentioned it and we discussed it and a couple didn't bring up my class rank at all. You are going to have to do well with the CBSE.

Fingers crossed it happen in August! As for the number of months, 4 is enough but do not underestimate how much time you will need to study per day. My advice would be to do lots of hours per day in the beginning. You may be able to taper off as you go, but maybe not. The last thing you want is to get one month out and wish you had put more time in the beginning. So hit it harder than you think you’ll need and adjust accordingly.

yes but you will need to study hard
Doing well on CBSE will make up for class rank
If you have any questions about how to study let me know I’m studying for STEP1 right now
