I have briefly seen some threads regarding this but haven’t really come across any clear answers.
I’m a D2 interested in OMFS and taking the CBSE this upcoming February (2025). However, I have been having arthritis in my non-dominant wrist and cubital tunnel syndrome in my dominant elbow that has been refractory to physical therapy. We don’t really start clinic until later in the year so I’m not sure how these issues will affect me clinically.
I’ve always had an interest in anesthesia so it is definitely in the back of my mind especially when thinking about the longevity of my wrist/elbow. This brings me to my main question:
How does the CBSE work when applying for OMFS vs anesthesia? There are separate portals for each and the exams seem to be administered on different dates. Would I have to take the exam twice, once for each portal/specialty? Are the scores transferable? Does it look bad to PDs if they see that I was initially interested in one (entirely different) specialty and transferred my score over?
Thank you all for your time!
