I will be attending dental school this year and was wondering about my options for scholarships and paying back my student loans. I am not applying for HPSP due to reading other student's experiences with it. I am considering the NHSC scholarship because I already live in a rural underserved area and want to serve in an underserved community. Do I apply for the NHSC scholarship this cycle? And when does it open up? Are there any other options other than the NHSC scholarship? Are the smaller scholarships worth doing if I am an average applicant (GPA and DAT-wise).
Aside from these scholarships, what are the best repayment programs? So far, I've read about PAYE and REPAYE. Are there any other repayment programs to consider?
