Applying this cycle too late?

Hey everyone,

Just thought I'd go ahead and ask, I mean no harm done right? I just finished my DAT on 10/27 and scored TS 25 and AA 24. I finished my undergrad this past May, took a summer class, and then spent the rest of my time preparing for the DAT. The amount of time I spent preparing for the DAT left me little to no time to take care of the application process as I was also working 30-35+ hours/wk..

Just curious if anyone thinks I should go ahead and apply anyways?

Rough estimate of undergrad GPA without direct reference to my transcript is a 3.89.

I think most people will agree with me that at this point it's very late in the cycle to apply. I say this because some schools' deadlines have already passed and some schools are already scheduling January interviews. You have to consider that your application will take a few weeks to get to them from when you submit, so it's not as if they will be able to review it tomorrow. And then on top of that the people who applied earlier are ahead of you in line. Since admissions is on a rolling basis and decisions start going out in a little over a month, applying now is really late in terms of timeline.

However, if you have the money and are willing to spend it knowing how late you are, then go for it. You have amazing stats, so maybe you'll score a really late acceptance somewhere. The worst that could happen is that you have to reapply. Congrats on your DAT scores btw! 😀

Thanks for the quick reply. I realize that it was late which is kinda why I asked in the first place. As far as I am concerned money shouldn't be an issue. I mean, if I spend the money and don't get any interviews etc... I have an entire year to make that money back haha. Never hurts to try! 🙂

Doc, i understand youre saying that bc of his stats, but his app prolly won't be complete until dec. the processing and waiting on loe's takes a while.

If he waited he'd def have a good shot at cheaper schools and scholarships.

This. If you wait until next cycle, you'd have a much better chance at cheaper schools.

Your stats are greats, although you may receive an acceptance this cycle, you will certainly have more options next cycle.

While you have amazing stats, at this point it'd be quite a gamble to apply. I would save your money this round, take a look at what you'll need for aadsas, and start preparing your stuff for next year. That way you can make sure you're totally happy with your application and you won't be so stressed and rushed.

If you just want to get into any school, I think you have a decent shot with your scores. If you want to go to a school of your choice then I would wait.

Gabriejt, just to be clear, I wanted to add that even though I said you could apply in my earlier post, I really don't think you should due to the reasons people already mentioned. You have a legitimate shot at any school in the nation if you apply early next cycle.

Hey there, I have similar stats and am applying just before a few of the deadlines. I'm going to go for it, I spent a lot of time getting good LOR's and stats, and have the money at the moment to send some apps. It may be a naive move, but they have a deadline for a reason. If there was no shot, they wouldn't have the deadline be so late.
