Hello SDN,

I have a 21TS, 22AA, 23 PAT (23Bio, 21Gchem, 23 Ochem, 23 PAT, 19 RC, 21 RA)
I have 1 publication on PNAS about the Bio-basic science research of light-perception of neurons I devoted 2 years in undergrad into
I have a double majors of Biology and Chemistry at UCI
My GPA science/cummulative: 3.89/3.89.
I have 90 hours volunteering in an orthodontist office and will have around 130 hrs by the time i submit my application. I like working in dental clinic.

I want to stay in california, nevada, arizona so i am aiming for UCLA, western, UOP, MWU-AZ, Western in oregon, UNLV.

My top choice is Western since I can stay in my neighborhood and commute. Do these schools look good?

The thing I am thinking about is before deciding on dental, I volunteer at a medical ophthalmologist clinic to get a feel for healthcare but it gets too hectic and I feel suffocated in medical field so I switch to dental. I actually dislike the experience I have in this clinic. I had around 200 hours or so here. Should I mention it on the app? or let it sink and ignore it?

You really should make sure you get hours in a general practitioner clinic. I know my school required that 50 hrs be under a GP. Otherwise, everything looks stellar. If you get that application in by June, you should get many acceptances.

lol I struggle real hard to find this orthodontist to shadow through craiglist by sheer luck. Seriously I am not kidding. Most of the procedures he does are general though, etc: cleaning, filling, crown, and teeth whitening. I hope this is still acceptable as the dentists in Socal orange is not really up for students to shadow in their practices.

you need to get general dentistry hours for sure as mentioned above.
Once you get those hours and apply by july you have evry chance of getting into any of the above schools
add ucsf also to your list

Pretty sure you have an excellent chance (as you may already know).

I have one advice for sure. Don't do anything stupid from today until the day matriculate. It is literally going be a year and few months, meaning don't get a DWI, accidentally plagiarize, conduct an academic dishonesty, and etc lol.
