So let me get this correct. If we are planning to attend medical school a year from now (Meaning after this summer I will be entering my final year of undergrad) then I have to start applying this summer? If so, ......wow!

Yup. I believe you interview through the fall/sometimes spring, then wait for acceptances/rejections through most of spring and sometimes early summer. Good Luck!
