Hello SDN family,

I have searched through the forums, but could not find an answer for my question. I will be graduating this fall and plan to apply to medical school Summer 2018.

However, last year my medical issues were really bad and it interfered with my coursework, so I was advised by many to take a LOA and straightened the issues first, before proceeding with college. That's what I did. I took about a year off, then continued to finish my courses and graduate.

I would like to apply to medical school summer 2018, as mentioned above, but I feel like the ADCOMs would not like the year gap I took, even if it was for medical reasons. I just don't want that to be one of the reason ADCOMs would reject my application.. Would my chances of getting accepted be slim due to the gap year?

As far as my stats, I retook the MCAT 1st 516 and 2nd 522. uGPA 3.43 sGPA 3.40.
