I am assuming I will be waitlisted at PCOM, and if I do not get in, I want to attend the postbacc there. I have the application ready, but am not sure when to send it in. I interview there on monday for the DO program. Does anyone know if the same ADCOM reviews apps for both programs, and if they do, would it affect my position on the waitlist? I am afraid that if I see that I applied to the postbacc, they wont consider moving me off of the waitlist. 😕

I don't see how if would affect your application. It'll show that your serious about going to PCOM. On the otherhand, who knows, theres soo much politics in the admissions process. I would go ahead and mail the application in so you'll have something set up "just in case".

Thats what I am thinking, because I want to get into the postbacc before it fills, because I want to be at PCOM in august regardless. I am just afraid that if the DO adcom is evaluating my position on the waitlist and they see that I am already in the postbacc, then they will not consider pulling me off for DO admission. I guess it is just the risk that I have to take.

WHATEVER you do DON'T mention your interest in the post-bac program during the interview. It sucks but that could be a reason for them to get five years of money form you instead of two. This happens in alot of places. They ask about what you would do if you are not accepted.

Sending in the application shouldn't affect things. Though I doubt the program fills till the summer since people will apply after giving up on the whole process.

Yeah, I definately will not mention post-bacc as an option, but could you give me a suggestion as to what to say? I will definately reapply next year, but I'm sure they are going to want to know what I will be doing in the meantime.

What makes you think that they are going to want to know what you are going to do in the meantime? You dont really want to show them that you have any doubt about getting in.

I mean naturally if they ask you what you are going to do if you don't get in, say post-bacc reapply.

I mean thats what I did with MD schools when I applied, I told them I was going to reapply, except they didnt know that I had concurrently applied to DO schools. Ha. I had the last laugh.
