What are my chances for applying to St. George?

cGPA and sGPA are 3.3/3.1 (3.45/3.3 with grade replacement)

My poor grades were from sophomore year, and since then I have lots of good shadowing, research, volunteering. My grades have improved, and with the exception of a B- in Genetics, they're all B+, A- or A's, including in neuroanatomy, advanced physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, etc.

I had a 29 MCAT (12/9/8) before my grades improved, and just got a 31 this January (11/10/10).

I'm applying to special master programs and medical schools in the USA, but St. George offers January admission, and I'm considering going that path.

Even if you warn me about not going Caribbean, just realize its just one thing I'm considering, and please give me my odds!

PS. If I apply to St. George for January 2016 matriculation, when do you think I'd know if I was accepted by?

Thank you!

100% acceptance chances.
As soon as the check clears.

As long as you are breathing and can write a tuition check, your chances are excellent.

So, you like the idea of being unemployed and deeply in debt?

Haven't you ever read this thread? If you can fog a mirror and have a check they will take you and you will almost certainly never practice medicine in the USA.

Hey OP if you are someone who likes being in debt and don't like jobs no harm in that. Some people have a thing for that! I'm not going to judge. Do you! St George's should be able to fulfill your every desire 🙂. Good luck.

They're doing it, folks. ShyWhy is exiling themselves to the Island of Misfit Pre-meds, despite the fact that their MCAT is well above the average for DO matriculants and their GPA is perfectly viable.

I guess a lifetime of crippling six-figure debt and unemloyment is superior to a career as a physician. Yes, I WOULD like fries with that, Doctor.

This is the equivalent of a quicktime event telling you to press X to not die and you just slamming your thumb on Y because you want to see the death animation. DO is X. Carib is Y. Choose wisely, because you can't just restart at the last checkpoint in real life.

Hi!

Like everyone else, I would definitely have to agree with not applying to St. George's University. My school just hosted a Pre-Health Fair where representatives of the admissions committee for medical schools from all over the US came to promote their schools and answer specific questions we had. I actually was able to have dinner with these representatives since I helped facilitate the event so I spent a good amount of time asking questions to the St. George rep since I was also interested in it. However, while talking to the representative about admissions, their curriculum, and residency placement, they gave very ambiguous answers. At one point, they said they didn't know how many of their students were able to come back and are able to practice. Needless to say, they were very knowledgeable about the cost over four years, the environment, their technology, etc. but were extremely vague about their curriculum and the success of their students. Personally, I would never apply for this school (or any schools in the Caribbean) because they seem to lure in prospective students with the idea of living on an island and fancy technology. However, I know a student that took this option and is back here in the US right now--not completing his residency--but going back to school to get his masters....
