Hi,
I have a Master's in applied math, and I'm interested now in applying to an MPH program, but I have no work experience..I have volunteered with several community health organizations in undergrad (including a mobile health clinic, an orphanage in Tijuana, a hospital, and currently health education outreach at a local school). My GRE scores and GPA are good, but I'm not sure if I should apply for an MPH for next year, or if I should work first...it looks like a lot of the top schools look at experience even more than GPA and GRE. I also don't know, if I do apply, if I should even consider the top schools..
I'm looking toward staying on the East Coast, especially in the Boston/Providence area.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much...I've been very lost lately 🙁

Are you applying to a biostats department? Schools are looking for a demonstrated interest in public health. I would ask the admissions officers at the particular schools. It may vary widely from school to school. It may also be that the biostats department has different requirements than the community health department, etc.

Is working as a Nursing Technician in the hospital for three years considered relevant experience?
