Approaching Uworld

So I'm about to begin third year soon and was wondering how everyone usually approaches uworld throughout the year. For step 1, I didn't start uworld until february and I found my second pass of it to be useless when I was halfway into dedicated. I recognized most questions and already knew most of the content in the explanations. So if I use uworld for shelf exams throughout third year and then reuse these questions for step 2 come next summer, would I find my second pass of uworld to be useless yet again?

I'm also just trying to figure out how to approach studying during third year overall. So any other tips would be much appreciated.
