April MCATers Submit AMCAS already? part 01

That may be true, but I wonder what information is provided with the AMCAS notification to the schools. Maybe just MCAT scores? I have heard that some schools, while it may not be advertised, do have a minimum MCAT score, below which they will not send out secondaries. Who knows???

No. I think it is too fast for that. I believe they just get name, AMCAS ID, and email address. I bet the entire thing is automated.

Schools that really screen didn't acknowledge my AMCAS until two-three days after it was verified. I know it takes them some time to download and get the applicant info. I wonder if they print them all, too. I am sure they have physical files for each of us.

I'm pretty sure this is going to screw up the verification of my application. I'm guessing either the application will be returned or the verification will take longer. Does anyone know how long it takes for AMCAS to return the application after submission? And to verify it after re-submitting it? My current application status is "Ready for Review."

No rhyme nor reason. The process of a college sending transcripts and AMCAS receiving transcripts took 17 business days. I'm finally ready for review today. 👍

It depends when they get to it. At this time, they're concerned about getting as many of the applications verified and available for med schools. I heard that during the "busy season," it can take as long as a month to get it returned and then anywhere from a week to month for reverification. As I said, it depends at what time things happy. Let's hope that they're able to convert and verify on their own instead of sending it back to you. Sorry about the mishap.

I used the transcript request form. They got it within three days. Perhaps you can inquire about it through your uGrad institution. They usually have a record of when and where they sent transcripts.

You know, if you think about it, the grade isn't even a required field- because your undergrad grade might not match the AMCAS one (for example, no A+ in AMCASville)... so they have to go through and "approve" all your grades anyway, changing any that don't match up. So in your case... none of yours will match up and they'll just end up entering your grades off your transcripts for you. So, you'll probably end up with Xs next to all your classes and a very irked AMCAS verifier, but you shouldn't have to resubmit. I would think. Good luck anyway!

I'm pretty confident that is just an automated response. They already had my transcripts when I finally got around to submitting, and I received the same status report. It changed to "Ready for Review" within approx. 10 - 15 minutes.

I put in an email on Thursday night... and they gave me an "issue" number and said they were working on it. Or maybe I just have issues period.

I do have 6 transcripts - but they all used standard semesters and only two have more than a couple of classes. Those were my degree awarding institutions - the others are for onsies/twosies kinds of classes at CCs. It can't be *THAT* hard.

So nothing solid from them yet - so I guess I'll have to wait until next week to hear something. I'd be happy if I just moved to the "under review" status. I haven't moved from "ready"! I'll post again when I have good news. I'd hate to get the rep as the cranky one on this thread - then again, if you ask my kids and they'd say it would be a deserved rep!

Anyway, I submitted mine on 6/22 and am still "ready for review". My file was still saved from last year, and I made only a minor update to my PS and a couple of my activities. Hopefully it will be done by next week, but I don't know about Independence Day holiday.

I want to combine 3A and 3B! My experience for 3A is definitely applicable to 3B, but there is no way to do that on the application!

Well. I am trying to make 3A and 3B different. I am also trying not to cheat by using things from my OSU "Altruism" essay--but I think I have some good starter ideas there.

I know how to do the additional comments one, so I am not worried about that one. But 3C. How to make this an interesting thing to read?

I know what you mean about trying to grab their attention with your response to 3C. Not to add more pressure, but I do think it is probably the essay they are most interested in reading. It's also tough because it requires you to talk about why you think you are a great fit...I don't know about you, but I've never been big fan of talking about myself! This med school application stuff sucks!

I highly recommend going to the store and picking up some thiamin (vitamin b-something) tablets to take with you. If you take them in the morning, it will keep the bugs away. For some reason, taking them makes you emit some smell that the bugs don't like, but you won't notice it at all. Works so much better than bug spray.

EDIT: Just realized that you already have the mosquito bites. Anyway, that a suggestion for the next time you'll be somewhere there's a lot of bugs.

thanks for the advice....i will definitely use that next time! the mosquitoes were CRAZY up in new hampshire/maine...i guess the fact that it's been raining for a month kinda helps them out.
