OK,
one program in neuro has an advanced and categorical option with seperate program codes.
I prefer the advance position so I can do my pGY1 elsewhere...
however the program's catgorical and advanced rolist will look the same from what I understand...

so IF i rank the adv first and match there, but dont match my prelim supplemental choice, the match will not move onto the cattegorical neuro prgram, it will just say I matched advanced and not prelim... correct??

Correct. It says so under the directions in the NRMP website. You will have to scramble into a PGY1 position. I'm sorta in a similar situation and only interviewed at 4 PGY1 spots, and pretty sure one didn't even rank me, so my chances at scrambling for a position are kinda high. So I don't think I'll take my chances, and I'm ranking the categorical before the advanced. Good luck.
