are chad's review videos enough for basic mcat content?

i've been going through this videos and taking notes and overall doing pretty well. but, today i got a whole set of princeton review mcat books (all of their subject books, and all of their hyperlearning books from a friend that took the course) and they seem way more in depth than what chad is going.

my original plan was to go through chad's videos and quizzes for content, and then do tpr hyperlearning passages. do you think this is good? or should i focus more on content from outside sources like tpr as well?

I didn't find Chad's quizzes to be very helpful. On par with EK 1001, or maybe less, I would say. I think content review needs books.

I prefer them to anything else I have found. I watch one set of videos, which takes 1.5-2.5 hours, then do corresponding TPRH SWB problems. Usually I can fit two sections in per day. I do take some notes in a very small notebook so I focus on just the big picture and don't write down a million things.

But to answer your question a little more directly, they are close to being enough. I think you can score a solid 30+ with just this and a bunch of practice questions from something like the SWB.

if you use chads videos and take extensive notes on them and do his quiz post game this does give you a good grasp on content I feel. I will watch his gen chem vids then go into the TPRH science WB for passages, and actually do quite well on \ them after watching the corresponding chads vids. His vids are in the same order as the TPR stuff so it works well to use them with TPR stuff. I am taking 8/27 and utilizing sn2ed, but I am about to modify my approach. I am going to start doing just chads vids and EK for content then TPR and TBR for passages--was doing the BR stuff for content (I have too much material EK, BR, TPR etc) and just decided that the books aren't for me🙁 Going through them takes forever for me, (6+ hours to outline a chapter) and the stuff is so involved and lists formula after formula it just ends up confusing me and I miss the big point. So for me BR is over the top for content. Everyone on here raves about the books so I am kinda upset they didn't mesh with me. Anyone else feel this way about BR stuff? I look at all the 30+ MCAT posts and the amount of people that used EK to score very high is overwhelming, so you can't knock it I feel. Well see what happens..this test will be the death of me.

I feel the same way about BR. It's natural that different people need different resources. I also feel that BR is more beneficial for "smarter" people, so to say, and for people who already have a very good grasp of the content and need to only perfect their content knowledge. As for myself, BR was too detailed and too complicated. I prefer TPR, EK and Chad's videos.

Ya I was so excited to get the TBR books cause of the praise they garner here on sdn. But after going through them and struggling; I am making the switch to chads, EK, and TPR. Will visit TBR for passages and have TPRH science WB as well. BR just feels too much like a text book, not a review book. I did well in pre-reqs (3.9 BCPM) and still some of the stuff in BR is like wtf?!😕 It seems like everyone who has taken the test recommends more passages and practice tests than crazy content review. And for me going through the BR books for content takes me hours on end for a chapter and drains me, which makes me fried come the passages. Not good. Unless you are some genius or just skim the chapters TBR content will have you up to your eyes in **** in my opinion. But well see. I haven't taken yet so wtf do I know.

Personally, I find the BR books too time consuming if you are planning on taking notes while reading the chapters. I have recently found it much more beneficial to align Chad's videos with the BR chapter outlines and take notes while watching his lectures. At the end of the week I read through the corresponding BR chapters to fill in any gaps in knowledge. This really cuts down on the time while giving you a good grasp on the content.

Like I mentioned, Chad's Videos should be enough but I also will use TPRH for extra review on the tougher concepts. I look at it like this, do what you are most comfortable with. Some people are auditory learners and the videos work well for them. Others do better with the written word. In that case, TPRH is between bare bones EK and overly detailed TBR. While I am using the videos, I find I can read quicker than I can watch so I find myself taking a break every twenty minutes with the videos while I can finish a chapter in the books in about 45 - 60 mins.

I am exactly the same. I find that watching the videos takes long but it really makes up for it by speeding my reading of the chapter

I just came across this thread....I am also watching Chad's videos and my plan is to finish watching all the videos and then just do practice passages in BR and TPR science workbook. For me personally, every time I have tried reading the books whether it be BR or TPR, I always seem to doze off and not remain focus. Chad's videos have been helping out alot, especially his notes and quizzes.

Quick question about Chad's videos - if we pay $115, do we basically get access to all of his videos for all of the MCAT subjects for 90 days?

As much as I vouch for Chad, I find listening/watching lectures terribly boring. I do much better reading. But the videos have potential to be indispensable to many folks, me included. I regularly watch them and then do practice questions. But sometimes books do a better job with a topic. I think TPRH is very good for all the subjects, though biology and organic are a bit overkill.
