Are hookups necessary for acceptance?

I've just been talking to a friend of mine, and he seems to think that the best way to get into dental school is if you know somebody. How many people out there had no idea about the dental school and they had no idea about you and you still got accepted there. (Obviously if you had a 3.9 and a 24 on the DAT you'll you got in anywhere, so I'm speaking to just average to just about average people.) If this is the case, what dental school was it, and how long ago? Thanx for your help.

i am sorry my friend but "hook ups" will not alone get you into a dental school. i can't say that its impossible, but you have to have the cerdentials inorder for your "hook Up" persuade the school's adcom people to get you in.

as for your question, i really doubt that anyone is going to apply to a dental school if/she doesn't know anything about the school.
