I've just been talking to a friend of mine, and he seems to think that the best way to get into dental school is if you know somebody. How many people out there had no idea about the dental school and they had no idea about you and you still got accepted there. (Obviously if you had a 3.9 and a 24 on the DAT you'll you got in anywhere, so I'm speaking to just average to just about average people.) If this is the case, what dental school was it, and how long ago? Thanx for your help.

HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH.....dude, you are WAYYYYY misinformed....hookups...for dental school???? HAHHHAHAH.....dont worry bud....you dont need ANY hookups.....dental school is definitely not hard to get into.....its not like Harvard law, where im sure hookups play a huge factor, but not in dentistry.....you got decent stats? apply now and your basically in.

thanx, that' nice to know. I felt like "shoot I don't know anyone in dental school, it sucks to be me."

i dont know what your stats are, but give it a few months when you get numerous interviews and then you'll get the feeling that the tables turned, and its the dental schools who are making the desperate pitches to get you to come to their school....trust me....

i posted a reply for this thread in the dental forum as well.

hook ups?
yes, if you don't have any then you are to look for other careers. forget about academics. 🙄

Unless your father or mother is the DEAN of the dental school, hookups dont mean squat. At least at a decent school. I would not count on a hookup to get me into school, and even if you do get in you will never really know if it was you who got in or your uncle's good word to the commitee. Just get in the old fashioned way, work hard!! Good luck

Hookups are not necessary for acceptance, but they might benefit you in terms of preparation for your interviews and informtion that you should know about the school that you can convey to the interviewer that you did the reasearch. You can also be able to sit in on one of your friends' lectures to gain a better perspective on what the dental school is about.

Do well with your pre-reqs and get a decent DAT (18 or above) and you should get in somewhere.

As far as hook-ups are concern, make sure you are not drunk and that the girl doesn't look like a horse 🙂 ... oh, yeah, always wear protection

hookups? lets say someone put in a good word for you, and ur in dental school, how would you feel like when you graduate? because whatever you feel like, just keep in mind that thats nor your degree your holding there, and thats not your hard work.....i can't believe people still look for these kind of things...
