I was wondering if anything like this exists? I took the unlv dental school simulation course and it was very enlightening. We spent two days in lab a total of about 6 hours doing basic waxing, cuts, and preps.

Does anyone know if there are any type of classes like this that exist? Specifically in the las vegas/southern California/northern California area. I think it would be more beneficial to dental practice

Thanks

I'm confused, are you asking if any class exists that you already took? Didn't you just list one? The unlv dental school simulation course? Or are you asking if there are additional similar courses like that one?

I kinda doubt it.
First of all, not all dental schools have sim lab because the machine is very expensive.
If dental schools can not afford it, I doubt that undergraduate schools got money to spend toward the sim lab without even having dental program.

Yes there is! UCLA School of Dentistry offers pre-dental courses that simulate their lab courses! There are four available:

1) Quadrant Denture
2) Complete Denture
3) Tooth Waxing
4) Impressions / Producing Casts

The downside is that they are expensive and are only available a few times a year. You also have to dedicate an entire weekend for each course (except the Impressions one, which is one Saturday only). I went to all four of them and they were all great. They let you test your manual dexterity and gain advantage by giving you exposure to classes that a lot of people have trouble with in dental school. Also, if you do well in the timed test at the end of each course, the instructor will write a letter of recommendation for you.

Are they competitive to get in? Also, do you know if they're restricted to In-state residents only? just concerned b/c I got interested and curious if they'll give us a big time for admissions.😎
