I am currently filling out my grades in AADSAS now and see AB or BC grades as well. I never heard of schools giving out AB or BC grades. But there are schools such as mine where minus grades don't exist and give out B+ and C+ grades, and they count as 3.5 and 2.5. Should I put my B+s as AB?

no, if your school doesn't give out these grades, why would you put it down?

you can't just give yourself an AB or BC...that's like giving myself an A- in a class that i received a b+ in (my school doesn't have minuses)..you list grades based off of whatever your school gives you

it's unfair that a b+ is a 3.5 at my school and at your school, but the fact of the matter is, in a standard grading scheme which most universities/colleges adapt, a minus system does exist so an A- in this case would be a 3.5.

they're probably covering their bases with the AB/BC

I thought A- is considered as 3.6667 or 3.7 in AADSAS. And schools where they have minus grades count B+ as 3.3.

In AMCAS (med school), applicants are allowed to put AB if they went to school with A/B+/B/C+ grading system.

I will call AADSAS tomorrow and further verify on how this works. Then I will update this thread.

According to the directions, it says to enter the grades EXACTLY as it appears on your transcript. So if you got a B+ then you should put B+

sorry, i meant 3.67 or w/e it is (i wouldn't know since my school doesn't have them)

and you seem to be very concerned about this...why? (just curious)

there obviously have to be some schools in the world (key word, world) that have the AB/BC grade options otherwise aadsas wouldn't include it. as to what schools offer these grade options..do a google search?

my undergrad did ABs and BCs etc. small private school.

Does anyone know what the actual results are after your transcripts are verified for a school with half-step grades A, B+, B, C+, C = 4.0, 3.5, 3.0, 2.5, 2.0??

It's very clear that AB and B+ mean exactly the same thing (3.5) on such school transcripts, but different nomenclature is used at different schools. Does AADSAS actually "round down" or follow the school's numerical grading system? Anyone with recently verified transcripts who graduated from a school with B+ = 3.5?

I am pretty sure a a B+ is a 3.33

Edit to add this link it should answer most of your questions

I've read that before, but it seems very unfair. At a school that uses half-step grades, it shouldn't matter whether the grade between A and B is "AB" or "B+", they should both be 3.5

Did they make it 3.333 when your GPA was verified?

Thanks

Schools that give out B+'s also give out A-'s that are equivalent to 3.666, so it all evens out. Some schools even give out A+'s that are equivalent to over 4.0.

Right, but there are schools that give out B+ and DON'T give out A-, like mine, which is why the grade is equal to 3.5. Why would it be fair to round down to 3.333? There is only one grade between an A and a B, and they chose to call that "B+" - it could just as easily have been "AB". For that matter, they could have called it "A-" instead. Would it be fair if AADSAS rounded UP to 3.666 in that case? I would argue no, and so it also seems unfair that they would round down.
