Are you supposed to/encouraged to/or is it weird to tour a medical school before you apply?

I am a rising senior, about to take the MCAT and study abroad in the fall semester. I am flying out of Boston and wanted to know if it's weird or normal/encouraged to take a tour of medical schools you are thinking of applying to. Also unsure if most people that do that organize it through the undergraduate office of admissions or the SOM's.

Thanks!

Usually you can't tour the school of medicine unless you have an interview there.

Open houses. I know that I have been to some open houses that take your picture and you fill out a brief handout with mcat scores, GPA, and significant honors. I think open houses like these are rare, but you should see if the schools you are interested in have them.

My medical school in Boston does not do tours for the MD program unless you interview.

at GW you can email admissions. I got a personal tour of their facilities and lots of info about their school. Other schools like Gtown don't do tours
