Army DENTAC POC to make a Request for Release

I am a current D4, and as other HPSP recipients know, we don't exactly get a ton of communication from the Army while still in school, so I am not sure who a good POC within DENTAC would be. I am hoping to inquire into getting a release from AMEDD so that I can serve in a different Army branch. I am hesitant to email the civilian HPSP coordinator and would rather speak with someone that is more knowledgeable about what I actually need to do for this.

I have not gone to DCC/BOLC yet but I am looking into options now since it might be easier to switch before going to AMEDD BOLC. Would I need to complete a DD Form 368? I am hoping someone can at least point me in the right direction to start this process.

I completely understand finishing dental school and wanting some adventure with the rest of your young life. You owe the Army a lot of value from your dental degree though. I’d reach out to higher ups in the dental corps at Joint Base San Antonio and see what you can do. There are ways to be involved in special operations as a dentist also. I think you may could even go through selection. Not sure! You can definitely get your Ranger tab, airborne, air assault, stuff like that. Maybe you can pioneer a thread on this.

Thanks for the response! Yea I've actually gone and met a couple of the group dentists for SF as well as some airborne unit brigade dentists. I was hoping that shadowing and meeting these people would help me realize that I can meet somewhere in the middle and have a fulfilling dental career while "getting my fix" for the other Army stuff at the same time. Unfortunately being around these individuals and the units just made me realize that being a dentist for them is still not what I really want. So my current plan is to fulfil my ADSO, separate from the Army, and then pursue national guard special forces and prior-service. Just hoping there might be a way to get into SF sooner than 4 years from now.
