Hi guys,

Is one better than the other?

- in terms of learning opportunities
- in terms of prestige
- any other logistics e.g. being able to apply for other workshops

I'm interested in clinical trials and translational research.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Are you interested in solids or liquids? That's really the question to answer.

I did the ASCO one and it was great. I'm sure if I gave a s*** about leukemia, the ASH one would have been great too.

My co-fellow at the time did the ASCO one at the same time I did and he's currently got an ASH CDA for his leukemia work.

sort of agree with gutonc but there are a few other differences in my opinion. The ASCO VAIL workshop is more geared towards medical oncology, intensive one week workshop where you walk out (in theory) with a working protocol to start up at your home institution. In contrast, ASH is pretty much focused on benign and malignant heme; with a focus more on longterm mentoring, networking as well as learning the research process. Going to the CRTI workshop definately helps with getting more involved in ASH and they imply it helps with applications for ASH awards...though to what extent is not clear.
