What's the best way to ask for undergraduate research? If you're not asking for a paid position and want to do it for credit, how should you go about that? Is it okay to email a professor that their research interest you, but you've never had a class with them?
Thank you

Yes, that is totally normal and happens frequently.

Send a polite, brief email introducing yourself and indicating your interest. Include a sentence about why their research interests you, as well as a sentence on your skills/relevant experience. Ask if they have any openings for an undergraduate student. Attach a professional-looking resume.
