Has anyone asked a residency program what they marked as their weaknesses on their CVs or why they we're a top candidate?

Don't do this. The app is also letter of intent and letters of recommendations. Maybe the CV was good but the others are lacking. At this busy time in residency selection the last thing an RPD wants is an email from someone not selected.

this exactly - if I got this letter, I would just throw it away - makes you almost look petty (even if that isn't your intent) - if you don't get a job, you don't email the person that didn't hire you and ask them why?
