Assisted in some procedures when I shadowed. Is that allowed?

So at one of the practices I shadowed at, the assistant would sometimes say "Alright, glove up! This one is all you!"

They made sure I didn't screw up obviously, but if I put that on my application, will schools wonder what the deuce was going on in the practice? Do I need to be certified to assist in a dental procedure, or is it fine if I was being watched by the professional staff?

I had visions of a school reporting my dentist to the higher ups because he allowed an amateur who had no idea what he was doing to help him in a procedure, haha.

Yes. In fact, many dental assistants are trained on the job without any prior certified training.

You are allowed to assist.
