When was Vegas?
I cancelled my ASTRO membership this year. I recently went to the ESTRO Annual meeting in Glasgow a few months ago. I felt that the vibe was quite different from ASTRO. Specifically, there was more emphasis on science and international collaboration with a distinctly less "used car salesman" commercialism. Plus a lot of the thought leaders from American Radiation Oncology present there anyway, so you really do get the best of all worlds.
Having the web based content be free to see the stuff you missed was also a nice touch.

I thought Vegas 2025 was ACRO or are both doing it there next year?
Former ASTRO member here as well. The last several meetings have not been scientifically interesting. This coupled with terrible decisions from poor leadership translates to little value. My academic dollars are better spent elsewhere.
Does ESTRO charge annual meeting abstract submission fees? Brief check of their submission site looks like no. Best I remember Green J. itself does not charge article submission fees either.
I think abstract submission is free, but others feel free to confirm or deny.
As far as ASTRO 2025, venue is not officially listed yet but Google AI seems to think it is in Vegas.

Astro in contrast has been quite boring and stale with way too much San Antonio it feels like in recent years
Just got back from Europe, BCN would have been great!
This will be very interesting if it’s true, as I thought AI google draws info from what’s available online but I can’t find anything public at least that links Astro to Vegas or Mandalay Bay.

ACRO is in Vegas in Marcy 2025. ASTRO usually reveals the new location at this year conference.
It's fine once in a blue moon but it feels like ASTRO has done it several times in the decade or so, certainly more than it deserves. Was supposed to be Miami Beach during covid and then nothing and no hints it'll ever go back there or to some place like Vegas

Why would you expect a great conference from a terrible organization? Why would anyone here support them and attend at this point? It’s always been a lot of cringe at best.

ASTRO negotiates contracts with convention centers years in advance. They are given preferred rates if they book recurring years, which is what happened with San Antonio. They typically hold back releasing locations until hotel blocks and other second-order details are confirmed. This is why you only see them released one year at a time, generally speaking.

I'm actually looking forward to Washington, DC this year - I love visiting the city and museums are close to the venue.
