Hey everyone, I'm sorry if this has been posted about before but I just wondered what people's thoughts were about which program would be the most competitive psychiatry program ever in the history of the cosmos? And also, how would this program compare to the least competitive program ever in whatever the next most competitive medical specialty above psychiatry is? And what is that specialty, exactly?

Please when you make your recommendations don't just "think big"--also think small, as in, subatomic nuclear particles that make the difference between the number one program in the celestial sphere and the mere second best program (which, admit it, matching there would be worse than getting stuck on some doomed asteroid belt in a location like "the Midwest"). Of course I know the best program is in the northeast, but where, specifically? Like, which photons are hitting it at this very second? And how can I tailor my application to really "sell" there?

My future relies on your advice!

Wherever Vistaril trains. Meets all of your requirements... it's in the Northeast and it's so competitive that they don't accept any IMGs (unlike Columbia or MGH, which can't manage to fill without taking some of those pesky internationals).

I've heard rumors of a shadowy program somewhere in the NE, most likely near Boston, that puts all others to shame. You can't apply to them through the Match; they wouldn't be so bourgeois as to participate. They recruit the candidates they want, and the first the lucky MS3 (yes, MS3) knows about it is when he's thrown into an unmarked van by hooded figures and driven North. They're so elite that Freud himself wasn't even considered for membership. They use Roman numerals to measure their PGY years and they start at PGY-V. They are the only psychiatrists scientologists will see. Patients' GAFs go up by a minimum of 40 just by receiving a glance from a resident. Compensation is based on a fraction of GDP, which their services naturally increase. There is no health insurance as none is needed, since all medical illness stems from the mind, and these residents merely will themselves into top health. The C&A fellowship concentrates on prenatal psychiatry. Upon completion of a forensics fellowship, one is automatically appointed to a top appellate court.

There may be better residencies out there, but I haven't heard of them.

I'd guess the most competitive psychiatry program is probably one of Columbia, MGH, UCLA, or UCSF....

none(when compared to the match in general for all specialties) would be considered 'astronimically competitive' though....

Why do you end so many posts with "...." ?

seems like its your way of saying "This post has no importance or content, but I would love for someone to try to argue with me"

Way to point out something obvious. Freud was an IMG. No self respecting top program would stoop to considering an IMG.

Better be careful, this could quickly turn into a USAMG vs DO vs FMG vs Carib pissing contest.

SDN is like flypaper for threads about that.🙄

I say let them go at it! If this thread turns into a Carib vs DO vs blah blah blah bashing thread it will only further highlight why I posted my original question in the first place...
